If those other countries stop accepting the dollar they would die, plain and simple. The U.S. is the reserve currency of the world. Nations simply don't just "drop" the dollar on a whim one day.  China won't drop the dollar (for the foreseeable future) because they would have to unpeg the yuan and let it appreciate, that's not what the Chinese Communist Party wants.
