Yes and no
He married her because she was a Kennedy, BUT I really think he would have wanted it to work.
I heard rumours and read articles long before this happened that she was a difficult person who always had to get her own way.
You cant have two Alpha personalities in a relationship it just will not work.

Arnold Schwarzenegger recycled an old gag T-shirt while exercising in Santa Monica on Sunday. As the photo (originally at TMZ) shows, the former California governor and actor, 64, donned a shirt that read "I survived Maria" on the back; on the front of the shirt the dates "2007-2010" appear, but "2007" is crossed out, replaced with "1977."

"Maria" would be Maria Shriver, his wife of 25 years, whom he began dating back in 1977. He and 55-year-old Shriver, of course, are headed for divorce following his admission of a secret 13-year-old love child with former housekeeper Mildred "Patty" Baena.

But Schwarzenegger's choice of T-shirt wasn't quite as cruel as it sounds. TMZ reports that he received the clothing item last November during a farewell party for the Governor's staff; Shriver's employees actually designed the T-shirt as a joke, writing in the "1977" date themselves.

And, despite the shocking drama, the former couple (they announced their split this May) are on good terms as they work through their divorce. Last month the pair banded together last month as their youngest son Christopher, 13, was hospitalized following a serious surfing accident.

The family -- which also includes son Patrick, 17, and daughters Katherine, 21, and Christina, 19 -- was also all together for a lunch in honor of the patriarch's July 30 birthday.

Think it's any surprise that their youngest son, conceived around the same time as Arnold and Patty's love-child, doesn't resemble Arnold in the slightest or have his genes? Maria was hardly fat in her youth, so I don't think he got it from her. The dirt on Arnold's affair could just be the beginning for the same type of dirt to be aired about Maria.

LOS ANGELES (KTLA) -- Arnold Schwarzenegger appears to be using his wardrobe to send a message to estranged wife Maria Shriver. The former governor recently donned a t-shirt that read, "I survived Maria."

Schwarzenegger was spotted wearing the shirt during a bike ride Sunday in Santa Monica.

The garment was designed by Shriver's staff as a joke and given to Schwarzenegger last November during a farewell party for his staff, TMZ is reporting.

The shirt, which originally had the dates 2007-2010 printed on the bottom, was altered to list the dates 1977-2010. Schwarzenegger and Shriver began dating in 1977.

The couple filed for divorce earlier this year after Schwarzenegger admitted to fathering a child with former housekeeper, Mildred "Patty" Baena.

I guess arnold is taking the "she was a bad woman/wife" way...how predictable of him, and of how his entourage is advising him. Truly an asshole from start to finish.
Funny how at first he said he was the one who messed up when everything was revealed and now is backpedaling (do not forget everything proves he wanted to hide the story of the maid but was confronted to it against his will...how alpha !). Again, he's getting senile and is clearely badly advised by some powerful influence outside of his family. His "friends" i guess. Who themselves must have ruined families if they had ones.

Sad. Caring about himself only to the end.
