Lmao at this thread.  Any gop candidate will be judged in realtion to obama.

Anyone even remotely comparing bachmann to obama is delusional.

Ron paul did great - but holy fuck - why the bachmann hate?  Especially from those of you who are silent on the shit bama does that is a million times worse?
wow, you wish...  this shit happens in primaries, end of story.

If her constituents are paying for those funds and programs, she has an obligation to secure those funds. Nothing inconsistent at all.

I've honestly tried to give her the benefit of the doubt, because I so dislike these liberals that automatically hate her and Palin.  I can't though, she's an ignorant bitch.  No way around that fact.

She still has a way to go before she gets a pass from me.

I don't know maybe in some areas she is.  I should read through that link.  But to vote yes to 193 billion in more stimulus, makes her inconsistent in my eyes when you consider the amount.

Definitely a hypocrite on the stimulus if she voted to extend it.  Would like to hear her explanation.

lol.   :)  I think she has been pretty consistent.  Not perfect, but consistent.  I'm not excited about anyone in the race, although I like what I read about Perry's background today.

What about it turns your crank?

yea but when she also voted for it?  you can't just add that as a defense.  Not to mention didn't you also talk up the republicans who refused to accept stim money?  I thought you did but maybe it was someone else.

What is it that you like about his background?

His military experience, years as a successful governor of a large state, his views on taxes and the role of government, his opposition to the stimulus and refusal to take stimulus money, his toughness on crime, his faith, being a family man, the performance of the Texas economy during the countrywide recession.

It really is an impressive background.  I want to hear what he has to say as he campaigns before I support him.

This thing about RP is that you know where he stands on the issues and he isn't going to flip flop.  Not to mention that he's a true Libertarian and would actually be working to keep government off our backs.

Has nothing to do with running a country.  Toughness on crime means writing a blank check for a failed drug war.  His faith is a personal choice and has no room in how government should be ran.  A family man...LOL...so was Clinton.  Isn't he being accused of homosexual activities?  Not saying it's true but where there is smoke there is fire.

You have to decide what you think are important qualities for your political leaders.  If faith, a wife, and kids are not important to you, then more power to you.  They are important considerations for me.  Not the most important, and not deal breakers, but definitely something I consider.

Didn't say anything about the drug war.  He supports the death penalty, like I do.  He has pulled the trigger on the ultimate punishment numerous times.  He'll probably support law enforcement, which is an important part of our society.

Clinton was not a dedicated family man.  Jennifer Flowers held her press conference before he was elected.  Everyone knew the man was sleeping around.

Why on earth is faith important in a political leader to you? What does faith have anything to do with being an effective political leader? ???

I'd rather have a leader who is experienced, smart, has common sense, a good moral compass, and has relationship with God.  I want someone who has prayer as part of his life.  Who seeks guidance in all that they do.  Just like Obama and Ron Paul.   :)  People of faith are grounded.  They are humble.  They listen to advice.  They are compassionate.  They are tough.  Not all of them, of course, but that's what you should get from a person of faith.  Those are all great leadership qualities.

A leader who is a man of faith is also in line with the vast majority of the country.

Paul is a man of faith but keeps it to himself, which is best. Obama is not a man of faith. What on earth is a relationship with God? How is that even a demonstrable quality for someone to have, other than saying he has a relationship with God? I suspect the last point is key; since most people in the country are religious Christians they want to be able to 'identify' with a leader. It makes no sense to me but that is the reason nonbelieving politicians have to pay lip service to religion.

I don't think political leaders should be wearing their religion on their sleeves, but I don't have a problem with them talking about it on the campaign.  We ought to know where they stand, so people can make informed choices.

I agree with your comments about identifying with a leader.  That's normal.
