Paul Ryan for President in 2012?

Interesting . . . .

Paul Ryan for President in 2012?
by Mike Emanuel | August 16, 2011

Just when it looked like the GOP Presidential field was finally taking shape, there is speculation that another big name may be joining the fray.

Stephen Hayes reports in the WEEKLY STANDARD that Congressman Paul Ryan, R-Wis., is "strongly considering a run for president," and has been quietly meeting with political strategists over the past three months to discuss a possible White House bid. Hayes also writes that Ryan is presently on vacation in Colorado where he is discussing the subject with his family.

The House Budget Committee Chairman's Press Secretary Kevin Seifert tells Fox News: "While grateful for the continued support and encouragement, Congressman Ryan has not changed his mind."

Monday night, Fox News Contributor Karl Rove was on FOX News with Sean Hannity and said of the Republican 2012 field, "I think (New Jersey Governor) Chris Christie and Paul Ryan are going to look at it again ... I'm starting to pick up some sort of vibrations that ... Christie and Ryan [are telling] the people who are calling them, 'You know what, I owe it to you, I'll take a look at it.'"

On August 7th, Chris Wallace on FOX NEWS SUNDAY asked Ryan about 2012, and he responded, "My answer is still no....My answer is still the same as it always has been the last time you asked me."

But with almost six months until the first votes are cast in the Iowa Caucuses, there is still time if Ryan chooses to move forward.

Is this the same Paul Ryan who won't hold town hall meetings this summer but instead will require a fee if a constituent wants to ask him a question?

Quote
“It will cost $15 to ask Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) a question in person during the August congressional recess. The House Budget Committee chairman isn’t holding any face-to-face open-to-the-public town hall meetings during the recess, but like several of his colleagues he will speak only for residents willing to open their wallets.”

that is pretty shitty

but he would be competing against a guy who has mandated that everyone buy a private service...

id personally take the one who wants to charge IF i have a question...

both shitty choices though

I was hoping this story would have been debunked by now (or figured Ryan would come out and make a statement that he really is doing town hall meeting afterall and it was all just a big misunderstanding)

I guess if you want to ask him why him about it you'll have to cough up some cash

Perhaps Lou Ferrigno is one of his campaign advisors.

Why RP supporters

This is about Paul Ryan

He's not the only Repub doing this either.

This is really incredible.

A congressman who won't hold an open town meeting and take questions from his constituents

Teabaggers should be all over this one

Ryan to Skip 2012 Presidential Race
Published August 22, 2011
FoxNews.com

Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan announced Monday that he will not be a participant in the 2012 Republican presidential nominating contest, choosing instead to run for reelection to the House of Representatives, where he currently serves as Budget Committee chairman.

"I sincerely appreciate the support from those eager to chart a brighter future for the next generation. While humbled by the encouragement, I have not changed my mind, and therefore I am not seeking our party's nomination for president," Ryan said in a statement on his campaign website.

"I remain hopeful that our party will nominate a candidate committed to a pro-growth agenda of reform that restores the promise and prosperity of our exceptional nation. I remain grateful to those I serve in southern Wisconsin for the unique opportunity to advance this effort in Congress."

Ryan has been frequently named as a potential contender for a GOP nomination, and was named as recently as Sunday as a possible latecomer to the race.

But Ryan has often said that if he runs for higher office, he worried he won't be in the nitty-gritty of deficit reduction, which he has fought mightily for since President Obama's term began. Ryan's budget, approved by the Republican-led House in the spring, has been the target of Democratic critics, who say it goes too far in trying to limit Medicare payments.

Ryan, who's only 41 -- young by political standards -- also has three young children, whom he reportedly did not want to expose to the rigors of a presidential campaign and possible White House residency.
