Religious extremists beat 7 year old to death

Kevin and Elizabeth Schatz are fundamentalist Christians who adopted little Lydia Schatz in 2007. In February of 2011, after being angered by Lydia's mispronouncing a word, they beat the 7 year old for 7 hours straight, killing her. The Schatz believed that this type of discipline is godly and appropriate. They were convicted of multiple crimes after Lydia's death and will be going to prison.

They sure didn't get much time.  Goes to show how much a little black girl's life is worth.  If it was the opposite, then I'm pretty sure they would get the death penalty.  They are going to get their asses beat in prison if not leave out in a bodybag.

Do I approve of parents beating their kids to death?  Of course not. 

I don't have a problem with corporal punishment, and I used it with my own kids, but I never spanked my kids "in the name of God," so I can't answer your other question.

I gave my boy maybe 5-6 spankings in his life.  Smartest thing ever.  You see way too many 9 year olds screaming at their mom about a video game they want... that shit is silly.  if you beat your kid every day, you fail.  there's just an age where ya may have to do it.

Agree.  I didn't have to spank very much, but having that discipline tool was necessary.
