Once in a while I look at getbig.com.

I do not post there, and never will. However, when I do take the time to look over the forums on there, something really pops out at me. It baffles me to no end that you are a 50 year old man acting the way you do on that board, especially being in the business you are in. You constantly seek attention (in fact it was the bench press record obvious attention seek that led me to write this), have the spelling and grammatical skills of a 9 year old and try to portray yourself as someone of intelligence and political savvy which you are clearly not. Im not even saying this to be insulting, I am merely pointing it out because to an outside observer like myself you look like a complete fool. And if you think you are invincible enough that your ridiculous behavior on there wont affect your business, well I guess that just reinforces my thoughts on your low intelligence level. Its sad that a man of your age feels a need to act the way you do,....really sad.

And yes, I am completely aware after reading your replies on getbig that your reply to me will be one that cuts me down or talks like an angry teenager. But thats fine, for I wouldnt expect anything else from you.

appreciate your email, I really do. That being said getbig is purely for my entertainment purposes only, I don't expect to get business from it although I have received my share of business from it. I don't claim to be politically saavy I just voice my opinion...my strong opinion. The problem is most on getbig do disagree with it because the majority of the people on getbig are young liberals who either are in school or think they do know-it-all. I've been on there since about 2000 and can tell you I don't act like that in real life or the other boards I moderate on (strength and conditioning sites). If called you a teenager then I apologize. 90% of that board is confrontational in one way or another. I'm probably one of the more disliked people on there simply for my political views and not much else. I get quite a few PM's and questions on the board that are training related and for the most part I quit answering them because these same people who wants my help or advice simply turn around only to bash me on the boards.

Jack, all I can say is that it's getbig, people take shots and I'm a very outspoken person.

We can't bust heads like we used to. But we have our ways. One trick is to tell stories that don't go anywhere. Like the time I caught the ferry to Shelbyville. I needed a new heel for m'shoe. So I decided to go to Morganville, which is what they called Shelbyville in those days. So I tied an onion to my belt. Which was the style at the time. Now, to take the ferry cost a nickel, and in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on 'em. Gimme five bees for a quarter, you'd say. Now where was I... oh yeah. The important thing was that I had an onion tied to my belt, which was the style at the time. You couldn't get white onions, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones...

I'm not here to bash the guy, really I'm not. But here's the question. How should a "49" year old act? This is really not a stupid question, I know how the stereotypical 50 year old SHOULD act by society standards. Yes, I have an answer.

At the end of the day - its just an internet board.  I mean that guy who e-mailed you seemed to take shit so seriously.  If you're on here and take everything posted SO SERIOUSLY then you need to re-evaluate the priorities in your life.

We will not all agree on everything all the time.... I don't expect getbiggers to be respectful.... because, well...this is GETBIG after all lol... but at least take things in jest. 


There are genuinely good people on this board, regardless of their opinions and whether any of us agree with them or not, at lease make the place fun and drop the chip on your shoulder!

If that style is unique to you, I suggest you write more of it and post it for interested readers on the net.

It's sort of like those J. Cutler 'poems' that are so interesting on this GetBig Board.

You dont act like this out in the real world though - this is all humour based even though it may get personal sometimes and we overstep the mark But this is GB it's accepted and if he has been reading the board he "should" pick up on this pretty quickly..

How should a 49 yo act ? well in societys eyes - maturely ,calmly and respectful etc but this board chucks those "rules" out the window, as long as away from here you are acting how most 49 yo's are "expected" to act I really cant see why the email was sent - Even Howie comes here to act a bit silly but you know with the position he holds in the real world he doesn't act like an ass or he would not hold that position he holds in Teaching, just as you would not be succesful and training World Class athletes.

Also there's nothing wrong with acting young at heart and having a laugh even if some of the stuff chucked oversteps the mark - pisstaking and have fun keeps you young as long as you are grown up when it matters.

This board is used for 2 purposes....entertainmen t and to acquire/give information related to muscle/bodybuilding.

Obviously the anonymous poster was referring to your posts that are meant for entertainment and not your training/diet advice. And the forums are moderated so any nonsense inside a "serious" forum is deleted.

As we all know many many people take the internet seriously. I personally consider most of these people to be foolish.

Almost all of us, if not all of us have a life outside of Getbig and can separate our "personas" here and our personality in real life. Of course we each bring a true part of ourselves to our Getbig handle, but for the most part we are here to be entertained and entertain. It's fun and can be informational. Age and sex don't matter. All ages and sexes enjoy it. Getbig is lacking women because as we all know women are more sensitive and can not handle the "edgy" entertainment on Getbig. No biggie....most stay away. Same with other posters.....if they really don't like it here they don't post.

However this anonymous person can not differentiate what is "fun" and what is "business". Which is a shame.

He asked a legit question and in the past there are a few people on here who have questioned me about the way I act on here because of my age. I know this gentlemen is reading this so here is my true answer.

I'm 49 in age only. I know my responsibilities in life, God, family then everything else. That being said and all of that aside...I'm a kid, always have been. The day I quit being or acting like a kid is the day I start going down hill. Hell, I even do kid things with MY kid. Skateboard (longboard of course) surf (again, longboard) football, baseball, during our speed camps my kids compete against ME, run routes with my kids and teams. More adults my age should be doing the same thing but most can't because the stress of life damn near fucks up every aspect of their lives, stress, heart attacks and all sorts of health problems. If I don't act my age on here because I don't meet the status quo then I'm sorry, it's not me....never has been never will be. My dad by my age had already gone through one life saving surgery with a perforated ulcer that he barely made it through, two years later he had major back surgery and by 54 he was dead. Me at 49, despite my past stresses had never been through a major surgery except meniscus eight years ago. The day after I turned 49, I did a legit 440 bench (no, not attention whoring). Long story short....Never act your age, it will kill you young!
