Alls well in South Carolina. We got a bit of rain that's about it. I hope everyone stays safe and dry.

Last order of business has been completed.  Palm Trees are now inside and all Civil War Flags were taken down.

hasn't hit northeast yet but just went out to get some more candles what a fucking zoo at some gas stations that have some gas left.

NYC will suspend all air travel around 2 I think, metro north (CT suburbs) trains suspended around noon I think.

NOT looking good...........

New York (CNN) -- Imagine a vulnerable island, parts of it man-made, with towering buildings and lots of people crammed into small spaces. Now imagine a monster storm slamming into that island.

Manhattan vs. Irene.

It could happen Sunday, and hurricane experts are warning New Yorkers that even though Irene may not be a killer in the vein of Katrina, millions of people could be trapped in their homes for days. Without power, transportation, phones -- and experience.

well they better think back to August 14, 2004 (I think). When we lost power for days that wasn't expected. Talk about a cluster fuck trying to get home. Grant it, hurricane conditions weren't there but no power for days oh man.

Obama declared CT state of Emergency.

Some of my friends needed to bring their bikes over and store them in my basement and I have a sub pump and generator. But the legal eagle in me did make them a notorized paper that I will nor my insurance company be held responsible for any damage done

haha I sure did..

Took me 9 hours to get from grand central station to E. Rutherford NJ. They wouldn't allow pedestrians to walk through the Holland or Lincoln tunnel. I was not to pay the crook taxi's 200 bucks they wanted to drive me 10 miles home

How fragile our civilisations are, one power out-age & it all goes to shit.
If this hurricane hits in a big way....

Well, my money is on a LOT of people having no fucking clue how to cope.
The cops will have their resources, stretched to the limit. People who are inclined to be opportunists will have a field day.
It could get pretty nasty, depending on how long it takes to get power back up & running.

well throughout CT shoreline, submarines are headed out to sea before it hits, not sure about the coast guard.

At least you are NJ, I would not want to be in the city when SHTF.
A lot of guns, people looking to make a $ where they can.

That's the difference between here & there. During the BIG monsoon, floods of 2004, people here where cooking big vats of food & feeding all the people who were flooded out. There are a lot of high rises here (so the higher up you are, the better).
But there was a real feeling of people pulling together to get through. In the West, it's "fuck you buddy get out of my way"  ::)

Imagine the subway system in the city getting flooded hard ... all the tunnel ( mole ) people who live down there .. some places are like small communities .. the water rushing through .. washing away the people and all the stuff they've taken down there .. drowned bodies and furniture clogging up the tunnels like a dam
