How about our entire elected government ignoring the illegal immigration issue for years?

No doubt.  Seems more and more that even the ones who are supposedly "staunch" on illegal immigration do little to try and curb the problem.  Of course, Barry suing AZ and shit, doesn't help either.

They ignore it because its just too expensive to enforce 100%.  At 24K a pop, its not exactly desirable.  That's why they only deport those with criminal records although Obama's deported a lot more people in two years than Bush did in the same period of time

Barack Obama's uncle has been arrested and held as illegal immigrant
James Bone and Catherine Philp From:
The Times August 29, 2011

http://www.theaustralian.com.au/news/world/barack-obamas-uncle-has-been-arrested-and-held-as-illegal-immigrant/story-e6frg6so-1226124269032

BARACK Obama's long-lost "Uncle Omar" has been arrested for alleged drink-driving outside Boston and detained as an illegal immigrant, The Times can reveal.

The arrest ends a mystery over the fate of a relative that the US President wrote in his memoir had moved to America from Kenya in the 1960s, although the circumstances of his discovery may now prove to be an embarrassment for the White House.

Official records say Onyango Obama, 67, was picked up outside the Chicken Bone Saloon in Framingham, Massachusetts, at 7.10pm on August 24. Police say he nearly crashed his Mitsubishi 4x4 into a patrol car, and then insisted that the officer should have given way to him. A report filed with the Framingham District Court said that a breathalyser at the police station registered his blood alcohol at 0.14mg/100ml of blood, above the state limit of 0.08mg.

According to a local newspaper, Mr Obama was charged with driving under the influence and driving to endanger, as well as failing to use a turn signal. He was detained as an illegal immigrant because the US Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement has an outstanding warrant for him because he was previously ordered to be deported to Kenya.

The Times has established from his birthdate that Mr Obama is the Uncle Omar mentioned in President Obama's best-selling memoir Dreams from My Father. In the 1995 book, President Obama writes of "the uncle who had left for America 25 years ago and had never come back".

In 2008, The Times mounted a search for Uncle Omar. Instead of finding him, we discovered his sister, President Obama's Auntie Zeituni, who was living as an illegal immigrant on a Boston housing estate. Uncle Omar and Auntie Zeituni are the children of President Obama's grandfather Hussein Onyango Obama, by his third wife Sarah, the woman President Obama calls "Granny", because she raised his father, Barack Sr, who was Hussein Obama's son by Hussein's second wife, Akumu.

The 2008 investigation unearthed public records naming an O. Onyango Obama, born on June 3, 1944, living at a house in the Boston suburbs, where he was known as Obama Onyango. Framingham police records list the man arrested last week as Onyango Obama, with the same birth date, June 3, 1944.

According to local reports, Officer Val Krishtal and another driver had to slam on their brakes to avoid hitting Mr Obama's car, which rolled through a stop sign and took a quick left turn. Mr Obama allegedly told the officer he had right of way and said he doubted the officer was forced to brake hard as he did not hear his brakes squeal.

Mr Obama pleaded not guilty at his remand hearing, but was held in custody because of the immigration warrant. He now faces a legal battle. His sister Zeituni eventually won the right to live in America despite an earlier deportation order. Margaret Wong, the Cleveland lawyer who successfully represented Zeituni, confirmed through a representative last night that she has also been retained to defend Mr Obama.

"Before he went to America, we all knew him as Omar. But he dropped that bit, changing it to Obama Onyango, because he said he preferred his African name," said Nelson Ochieng, a cousin in the Kenyan city of Kisumu.

Mr Obama's landlady in Boston went to court to evict him in 2000 for non-payment of his dollars 500-a-month rent. He was also a partner in a convenience store that was set up in 1992, and was attacked in a robbery at the shop in 1994 by two men armed with a sawn-off rifle.

Obama may have deported more illegals, but the problem is far from being addressed.

Seal the borders, wall it, patrol it, stop wasting money on stupid crap like Libya, Iraq, afghanistan, and ball washing.  Declare amnesty to all those already here, give them all 2 years to learn passible English and if they don't learn it boot them out.

President Obama’s uncle had Social Security ID
By Dave Wedge and Laurel J. Sweet  |   Tuesday, August 30, 2011  |  http://www.bostonherald.com  |  Local Coverage

President Obama’s accused drunken-driving uncle — who was busted after a near collision with a Framingham cop — has had a valid Social Security number for at least 19 years, despite being an illegal immigrant ordered to be deported back to Kenya, the Herald has learned.

The president’s 67-year-old uncle, Obama Onyango, has had a valid Massachusetts driver’s license and Social Security number since at least 1992, said Registry of Motor Vehicles spokesman Michael Verseckes.

Onyango, whose sister, Zeituni Onyango, made headlines when it was revealed she was an illegal immigrant living in public housing in South Boston, was wobbly legged, “slurring” and had “red and glassy eyes” when he was pulled over at 7 p.m. Wednesday on Waverly Street in Framingham.

A marked cruiser pulled him over just past the Chicken Bone saloon, about a mile from Onyango’s single-family home. Onyango, the half-brother of the president’s father identified in some press accounts as “Uncle Omar,” initially denied drinking but admitted having “two beers” after police said they smelled booze on his breath, according to a police report.

“It was clear that he was moderately unsteady on his feet,” Framingham Officer Val Krishtal wrote.

Onyango’s white Mitsubishi SUV was pulled over after the vehicle made a sudden right turn in front of a cruiser at a stop sign, causing Krishtal to slam on the brakes to avoid a collision. Onyango blew a .14 on the Breathalyzer and continually interrupted the officer, the report states.

“(Onyango) spoke English well, albeit with a moderate accent. I detected what I believed to be some slurring as he spoke,” Krishtal wrote.

Onyango was ordered held without bail on a federal immigration warrant after his arraignment Thursday in Framingham District Court. Court papers show he was the subject of a previous deportation order. He was being held in the Plymouth House of Correction last night.

Mike Rogers, a spokesman for Cleveland immigration attorney Margaret Wong, who is representing Onyango, said he “wouldn’t know how” Onyango obtained a Social Security number. Wong is the same lawyer who represented the president’s aunt, Zeituni Onyango, in her fight to win asylum last year. Reached at her apartment in a South Boston public housing complex yesterday, Zeituni Onyango said of her brother’s arrest: “Why don’t you go to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. in Washington, D.C., and ask your president? Not me.” She then hung up on a reporter.

The bust came just days after another illegal immigrant was charged with running down and killing a 23-year-old man in Milford.

Asked about the issue yesterday, Gov. Deval Patrick said: “You know my stance: Illegal is illegal. We need comprehensive immigration reform.”

Well, there's been no money spent in Libya...Iraq and Afgan were there already although the Iraq campaign is winding down.  I would declare them amnesty but ultimately make sure that they pay taxes in addition to an illegal immigrant surcharge on their taxes to cover ICE expense.

Another deportation fugitive in the Obama family

Oh, Uncle Omar.

We’ll get to more of him in a moment.

Over the past decade, I’ve reported on America’s bottomless deportation abyss. After the 9/11 attacks, it finally dawned on federal homeland security officials that maybe it wasn’t such a smart policy to allow 400,000 illegal aliens who had been ordered deported to remain on the loose. These absconders who entered the country illegally, evaded judicial deportation orders, and absconded from justice were beneficiaries of a chaotic system clogged by conflicting statutes, incomprehensible administrative regulations, bureaucratic and judicial fiefdoms, selective enforcement, and a feeding frenzy of obstructionist immigration lawyers.

It is a climate which continues to favor illegal aliens’ rights over citizens’ safety.

I’ve reminded you repeatedly about these deportation truths as clueless politicians on both sides of the aisle blabber about “comprehensive immigration reform”/mass amnesty. In July, I pointed you to a Center for Immigration Studies study that updated and underscored many of the deportation fundamentals we’ve stressed over the years:

* A large percentage of aliens flee from removal proceedings – perhaps as many as 59 percent of all those released to await hearings. On a cost basis from the alien’s perspective, this makes sense. If you are in proceedings and have little chance of relief, why not treat the bond money (if it’s even required) as the cost of having been caught, and then flee, hoping to stay under the radar for as long as possible, perhaps until the next amnesty?

* Though fashionable in the Obama administration, the exercise of “prosecutorial discretion” is problematic for ICE field officers. If the alien that they decline to remove goes on to commit a heinous act, they could be subject to lawsuits from victims and will be held accountable by their own agency (even if agency leadership encourages them to use the tool).

* Even in today’s technology-driven world, charging an alien with immigration violations is a paperwork-intensive, cumbersome process that requires agents to fill out nearly 20 different forms each time.

* ICE officers are supposed to consider two key factors in determining whether to detain or release an alien in proceedings – if the alien is a flight risk and if he is a risk to the community. The latter factor obviously is given serious consideration, but it is equally obvious from the large number of absconders that officers don’t give the same weight to the likelihood of flight, especially considering the scarcity of funded detention space.

* The Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) provides for several types of due process for aliens, depending on their circumstances of arrival and stay. The law does not require that all removals be ordered by an immigration judge.

* The option of Voluntary Return, where the alien requests to be returned home in lieu of formal removal proceedings, is not really “voluntary,” but is beneficial to the alien because it carries fewer consequences if the alien returns illegally. It also has become subject to overuse or misuse in recent years as a tool to increase the volume of removals, at the expense of more formal methods of removal that have more deterrent value.

* Immigration law provides for seven ways to remove an alien, which are explained in the report. Four of these options are relatively efficient, but used less frequently. If ICE chose to expand their use, the workload of the immigration court could be reduced and the immigration enforcement system would be less dysfunctional.

* The total number of apprehensions of illegal aliens by immigration enforcement agencies is less than half of what it was five years ago. For instance, the drop in apprehensions by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is often explained by improvements in border security; however, this rationale is suspect, as has been pointed out by the Rand Corp. in a study of border metrics. But ICE apprehensions also have dropped steeply, although there has been only a modest drop in the size of the illegal population inside the United States.

When the White House began issuing its deportation waivers last week, I reminded you again about the endless appeals process and immigration litigation lottery played by deportable aliens and their open-borders lawyers. And remember: Capitol Hill compounds the problem with a raft of special private relief bills that protect illegal alien criminals.

This chaos creates a friendly atmosphere in which those who plot to destroy the American dream can hide, work, and flourish. As we approach the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks that awoke snoozing feds to the nexus between systemic lax immigration enforcement and compromised homeland security, the paparazzi president has nothing to say about the deportation abyss. We’ll get photo ops and platitudes about never forgetting. The open-borders lobby will get a continuing windfall of get-out-of-deportation passes.

In November 2008, Barack Obama’s unemployed illegal alien aunt who had been living in public housing for years received special dispensation from the Bush administration despite evading deportation orders for years. Despite failing to win an asylum bid and despite ignoring a judicial determination that she return home, Zeituni Onyango won another bid in the immigration court system. In May 2010, the unemployed illegal alien deportation fugitive won her case and remains in the country today — free to moan and whine about how badly America has treated her while living on the taxpayers’ dime.

And then came Uncle Omar. The brother of Auntie Zeituni and half-brother of President Obama’s father, “Omar” Obama Onyango was arrested for drunk driving over the weekend (h/t to Michael Graham) and is being detained on an immigration detainer. He did have a job, unlike his sister. It was, alas, at a liquor store. The Boston Herald reports today that the uncle (whom Obama referred to in his best-selling “Dreams of My Father” as “Uncle Omar”) “had a valid Social Security number for at least 19 years, despite being an illegal immigrant ordered to be deported back to Kenya.”

The Herald further adds:

More nonsense and pabulum from America’s open-borders know-nothings. They’ve turned the American Dream on its head. Entry into this country is no longer treated as a privilege, but an irrevocable right for every last griping Zeituni and reckless Omar.

***

Doug Powers cracks: “If the president was serious about rounding up illegals he’d host a family reunion and have ICE throw a net over the South Lawn.”

Globe Staff / August 30, 2011

FRAMINGHAM - As he was being booked on drunken driving charges by Framingham police last week, Onyango Obama was offered a chance to make a phone call to arrange for bail.

“I think,’’ he said, according to a police report, “I’d like to call the White House.’’

If he was hoping to reach his nephew, Barack Obama, he would have been out of luck; the president was vacationing with the first family on Martha’s Vineyard.

The elder Obama, who is the half-brother of the president’s late father, according to a spokesman for the law firm representing him, is in the custody of immigration officials, awaiting possible deportation to Kenya.

A White House spokesman referred all requests for comment yesterday to US Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The ICE press office, in an e-mail, said the agency does not comment on specific cases.

Onyango Obama, 67, who lives on Charles Street in Framingham, was stopped by police outside the Chicken Bone Saloon on Wednesday, shortly after 7 p.m.

According to the police report, Obama was driving on South Street, just in front of a police cruiser, when he made a sharp turn, causing the officer and another driver behind to jam on their brakes.

When the officer approached the vehicle, Obama, who “spoke English well, albeit with a moderate accent,’’ appeared to have slurred speech, according to the report by Officer Val J. Krishtal.

“The male would not allow me to speak and continued to interrupt me,’’ Krishtal wrote. “I explained to him that I narrowly avoided striking his vehicle, and he told me that he did not hear my tires screeching, so I was not being accurate.’’

Obama first told the officer he had not had anything to drink, then admitted to one beer, and then to two beers, according to the report, which described his eyes as “red and glassy.’’

When the officer attempted to administer a field sobriety test , Obama kept starting the test too early and talking over the officer’s instructions, the report said.

“Every time I got a sentence out, Obama would say, ‘You are correct,’ ’’ Krishtal wrote. “He also attempted to start the [one-legged stand] test approximately 7 times without being told to do so.’’ During another test known as the “nine-step walk and turn,’’ Obama “could barely keep himself from falling,’’ according to the report.

After failing three field sobriety tests, Obama was arrested on a drunken-driving charges and booked without incident, the police report said.

At the station, which is where Obama first hinted at his White House connection, he allegedly registered a 0.14 percent blood alcohol level on an alcohol breath test. The legal limit in Massachusetts is 0.08.

Framingham police Lieutenant Ronald Brandolini said the department did not investigate the presidential connection, despite the last name and the White House comment.

“We did not look into it,’’ Brandolini said.

Obama was arraigned Thursday on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to yield at an intersection, and negligent operation, according to Cara O’Brien, a spokeswoman for the Middlesex district attorney. She said a judge ordered him released on personal recognizance, but he was held on an immigration detainer.

Mike Rogers, a spokesman for immigration lawyer Margaret Wong, said Wong is representing Obama in the deportation proceedings.

OBAMA’S ILLEGAL UNCLE Worked at Liquor Store – Sold Booze to Kids

Obama illegal alien Uncle Onyango Obama was arrested for driving drunk.

He is currently being held by ICE. Onyango told police he planned to arrange bail through the White House.

Onyango Obama denies drinking and driving, careless driving and failing to yield right of way. (BBC)

Barack Obama’s illegal alien Uncle Onyango worked at Conti Liquor Store in Framington, MA.

Obama’s Uncle Onyango was in trouble last year after he sold booze to a minor.

The Taunton Gazette reported:

The half-uncle of President Barack Obama arrested last week for drunken driving was a great employee but never mentioned his relationship to the President, the owner of the liquor store he worked at said.

Onyango Obama, 67, has worked at Conti Liquors, 409 Concord St., since 2006, said store owner Parimal Patel.

“I have nothing but good things to say about him,” said Patel. “He’s probably the best employee I’ve had.”

Obama usually worked about 30 hours a week, mostly nights, Patel said. He never talked about relatives, including President Barack Obama.

“If I knew I would have asked him for tickets to the White House,” Patel said.

Framingham Police said they arrested Obama, of 37 Charles St., last Wednesday after he cut off a police cruiser on Waverly Street, nearly causing an accident. They charged him with operating a vehicle under the influence of liquor and driving to endanger. Obama’s blood alcohol level was .14. The legal limit is .08.

…Obama has had some minor trouble while working at Conti Liquors, Framingham Police said. Last year, police conducted a sting by sending an underage man into the store to buy liquor. Obama sold the 19-year-old man booze without asking for an ID, police said. The store lost its license for three days.

In 2006, Obama also sold alcohol to two underage men using fake IDs, police said.

Here’s video of liquor store owner Parimal Patel talking to reporters.

Congressman: Obama uncle will have 'advantage' in avoiding deportation
by Stephen Dinan
Published on August 29, 2011

One congressman wants to know if President Obama's half-uncle will be granted "amnesty" under new rules the Obama administration announced earlier this month designed to let lower-priority illegal immigrants remain in the country.

Rep. Steve King, an Iowa Republican who has fought for an immigration crackdown, said Onyango Obama, a relative of the president, "will have an advantage … when it comes time to determine who is granted amnesty."

"This raises a troubling list of questions about the potential for preferential treatment," Mr. King said.

He and several other members of Congress have called for hearings to investigate the new rules, announced by Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano two weeks ago.

Under those rules, immigrants who are in deportation proceedings will be evaluated and, if they are not deemed high priority targets, officials are allowed to use discretion to end proceedings.

Those under final orders for deportation are not subject to the new rules yet, though Ms. Napoltiano has asked a working group to see if it can provide discretion in those cases, too.

According to news reports, Onyango Obama is currently violating a deportation order.

Asked Tuesday morning whether he would be eligible for special treatment, Miss Napolitano told reporters she couldn't comment on a specific case.

"I really don't know about it," she said.

Obama's uncle is called a fugitive
Boston Globe ^ | August 31, 2011 | Maria Sacchetti and Dan Adams

The uncle of President Obama arrested here last week on drunken driving and other charges has been a fugitive from deportation since 1992, according to two federal law enforcement officials with knowledge of the case.

Onyango Obama, who is from Kenya and is known as the president's Uncle Omar on his father's side, had lived a quiet life in Massachusetts until last Wednesday, when police said the car he was driving darted in front of a police cruiser, nearly causing the officer to hit his car.

The federal officials, who spoke about Obama's immigration status on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to speak about the case, said Obama had been told to leave in 1992, but he did not go.

Obama is the second relative of the president to have defied a deportation order, reigniting debate over illegal immigration and raising questions about how a man who had lived in the United States illegally for years had managed to secure a job, a Massachusetts driver's license, and apparently, a federal Social Security number, without being detected by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE.

(Boston Globe) With DUI arrest, Obama’s uncle should be subject to deportation

GETTING BEHIND the wheel after drinking heavily is a dangerously irresponsible act. To do so while in the country illegally shows even worse judgment. Deportation should be the expected result in such a case.

...Obama, who likely arrived here as a Kenyan student in the early 1960s, was the subject of a deportation order in 1992...

A national debate is under way regarding the proper role of local law enforcement in relation to illegal immigration. Some local police departments don’t want to jeopardize relationships with urban residents merely to help US Immigration and Customs Enforcement resolve administrative cases. But nearly everyone agrees that illegal immigrants who commit violent or serious crimes should go to the top of ICE’s priority list.

A first DUI offense in Massachusetts is a misdemeanor. But the potential for injury or death from any drunken driving incident is significant. Such a charge alone should trigger scrutiny by ICE under the federal Secure Communities program or other tracking system now in use. Technically, a violation isn’t even needed, since Obama is a fugitive who already has undermined the integrity of the immigration system by ignoring a deportation order. That alone can be sufficient to warrant expedited removal.

... Surely illegal immigrants who pose a threat to national or border security should be a higher priority for ICE agents than Obama, a man in his sixties who has had no reported prior offenses.

ICE has limited resources and ordinarily wouldn’t waste money by pursuing elderly illegal immigrants who have been in the country without incident for decades. But Onyango Obama squandered that status by calling police attention to himself. The normal procedures should be followed in this case. If his defense is unpersuasive, he should be deported to Kenya.
