I'm Albanian. My Grandfather was a wealthy man before the communist regime took over. He had a farm lots of land and animals. Once the communists took over they took everything from him. They forced him to work on the big Government farms. He was allowed to keep a little bit off his land but he wasn't able to take care of it because they worked him like a slave.
My Grandpa had enough of the bullshit. He left in the middle of the night. He scouted a way to Yugoslavia. He came back two weeks later in the middle of the night. He never told his wife what he was doing so she was shocked to see him. He didn't want her to know anything in case she was questioned by government police.
He got everybody ready and they left. Took them a while to make it. They had really young kids to take and my Grandma was pregnant at the time with my father. They slept at night and travelled during the day. Almost died of starvation and thirst. They were almost torn to pieces by a pack of dogs once. Finally they made it to Yugoslavia were my father was born. They lived there for awhile until things got really bad. They did the same thing as before but this time they made it to Greece. They lived in Greece for ten years I think. My Grandfathers big dream was to get everyone over to America. Two of the oldest of my dads brothers flew to America. They found work. They found someone to sponsor the rest of the family. Not everyone could make it over. My one Aunt had polio and another stayed behind to take care of her.
My dads family came to America not knowing the language. They all worked hard at different crappy jobs so they could afford a little place for them all to live. After a few years my uncles learned the restaurant business and the rest is history.
I hate people that think everything should be given to them. I hate liberals because of their ideals. If my family can come here and make something of themselves not even being able to speak the language then anyone can make it. This is America we shouldn't be entitled to everything. Health care, food, housing, transportation, none of that is a right! This country was built by people that had a dream to make themselves better.
so let me break this down, tell me if ive got it right
your granfather owned his own farm.
when the government came in and took his farm, made it part of the community as a wholes instead of just his own, and had your grandfather work as part of a society instead of as an individual, your grandfather walked out on his fellow countrymen in order to pursue his own selfish desire of self ownership.
right ?

and what economic issues do you think dems have right and reps have wrong?
LOL and democrats are all about personal choice right?
what change in social issues to reps resist in your mind dizzle?
these are generalizations of course
democrats understand the necesssity of regulation on business in order to counter the cyclical nature of the free market as well as to prevent the unfair treatment of workers and the environment, while republicans believe that all regulations are necessarily harful as they interfere with free market forces, they idolize the ability of capitalism to regulate itself and believe any government attempt to improve it is bound to fail.
democrats ARE all about personal choice. key word PERSONAL. choices that only effect YOU, the individual. should be left up to you, the individual. republicans dont believe in allowing adults to do drugs, they dont believe in allowing adults to marry another person of the same sex, etc. personal choices that only effect the individual should be left up to the individual. where you might get confused is that democrats do favor regulationg behavior which directly effects other people, like for instance, large scale activity in the economic sector, and youll even find liberals supporting regulations on parents and schools which prohibit endangering or mistreating children. whereas republicans think adults are unfit to decide on their own if they are able to drugs or have sex with a person who has the same genetalia, they are in full support of a prents right to teach, feed, treat their children in anywaay they see fit, so long as they arent directly physically or emotionally abusing the child. good examples here are liberal attempts to prohibit junk food in schools, attempts in frisco to prohibit circumcisions unless medically necessary, etc.
