Don't know what part of Riga you went but the city is litteray crime free - seriously I asked some of the guys who I went drinking (mostly Germans who life there for ages) and they say they have zero crime.
^^
That's because the Police are SERIOUS there, sort of like a Russian legal system.  By the way, try a Browning Hi-Power- saved my ass in Bosnia a few times!!! ;)

You're still new to all this gun stuff.  I have pics of me with an M16 when I was 6 years old.  dad was a FFL.

IMO, once you do this for a few years you'll move up to 40 or 45.
ive been doing this since 92, still rocking 9mm. hits count not caliber size. shots to the upper chest and face, it dont matter what caliber.

x2

i hate people who stress over one caliber or another when it comes to handguns

1. you're never gonna use them in a life threatening situation.
2. IF you have to shoot some burglar, It won't matter whether it's 9mm .45 .38 .357 as long as you can hit what you're aiming at

Personally hate glocks, worth it to spend the extra money and get Sig Sauer,
P226 is my personal favorite.

Only gun I have is a 12 gauge Mossberg. Next I want a 10mm Glock. Anybody know which model would be best?  They have standard size and smaller ones for concealed carry. Advices?  240?

Or for concealed you could get a Sig Sauer P238 w/a laser :D   Not sure if that's considered a women's gun or not though.

Shot gun is actually best for home defense as far as hitting your target and safety. Meaning the bullets are not likely to go to your neighbors house.

I keep my mossberg 500 loaded with 00 buck. I have a shell carrier on the side with 5 slugs. One load of 00 buck to the torso is enough to ruin anyones day.

Same gun I have. Most likely just the sound of the pump would scare of most perps, but if not well ya know...

Seriously is there ever a time where you feel the need to shit out of your brain and type your stupid opinion about stuff you have no idea about?

When someone is carrying a gun in a holster, car...etc...pistol is the best choice.

Shotgun is the better choice in a home because the lead won't go through walls and possibly hit someone that's in the next room, your neighbor ...etc.

Fuck that son, keep a round chambered...don't give them a chance to do damage because you still have to rack the shotgun. Even though yeah...that unmistakable sound of someone racking a shotgun...anyone with half a brain will hit the deck or start running away unless they're there to hurt you.

BTW my 870 I picked up $330 out the door, brand new.

My latest purchase Sig P250 .45.... = niiiiiiice

the handgun is just your temporary means toward getting to your long gun.  Rifle or shotgun.

the 9mm is fine if its you and the bad guy 10 feet from each other standing hollywood style.

If you need to put rounds thru things, hit multiple guys, and you need a leg or gut shot to take them down... then I'll take a 40 or 45 over a 9 mm any day.  You may only get to wing him if you're falling over a table to prevent him from shooting you - having that ideal shot at head and upper chest isn't always there.

My little bro is an excellent shot.  He had two armed bad guys come into his pharmacy - two had guyns drawn, less than 10 feet away.  He had to sacrifice accuracy - He was sprinting backwards over junk, watching 2 guys at once.  In a standing match, he would have killed both (with his glock 45) easily with headshots.  he ended up hitting one in the gut and the other chose to exit.  Shit is crazy in real shooting.  big calibers rock.

Yep, just go plinking and see the difference what a 9mm vs 40 vs 45 round does to a watermelon or jug of water.

9mm will go through your target without too much of an exit wound ...where as a 40 & 45 caliber round will destroy shit.

Rule of thumb is that 9mm will go through your target where as a 40 and up caliber is a "man stopper".

You never want to give a perp a second chance to react, the goal is in the eyes of the law to "stop" a perp.

Don't get me wrong, you can kill a guy with a .22 and a 9mm but in my eyes the argument lies in getting the job done quickly and right because in a high stress situation you might only get once chance to get a decent shot off. It is very rare that you're going to get a shot off like at the range in a controlled environment at a stationary paper target.

oh brother

now weve got a bunch of gun experts here

if you guys cant hit somebody in the chest with a pistol, then sure, use a shotgun instead.

the point was all you need is one gun to do the trick.

Bullshit.   The 2nd amend is clear as day on this.
LMAO yes, the 2nd ammendment clearly states that a pistol is insufficient for self defense.
