Less people on welfare means enough money to test the ones that are on it on a random basis
The vast majority of people will pass the drug test which will cost more money than people testing positive....in addition, while it sounds good on paper right now, I don't people know exactly what the US welfare system consist of....which is:
1. Social Security
2. Medicare
3. Medicaid
4. Disability
5. Earned Income Credit
Basically, there's going to be a line of senior citizens waiting to pee in a cup at an average 130 dollars a pop (35 for the test, 95 for the results and administrator of it). Afterwards those old people are going to be pissed off enough to vote whoever passed this out of office.
Oh, one other thing....if a person fails a drug test, they will more than likely get a public defender and dispute the results costing more money in legal fees. Its no different than Texas spending a couple million dollars to test high school kids for steroids....just a big waste
Another example of implementing a policy based on appeasing the Tea Party.
