New Castle Police are investigating the shooting death of an East Street man Wednesday morning.

According to police, Jason Pegg, 32, 317 East St., was shot twice in the chest and abdomen and pronounced dead at the scene by the Lawrence County Coroner's Office.

Kevin Boyer, 38, was arrested on charges of criminal homicide.

Police state that Boyer was a landlord of another apartment at that address and Pegg was a resident in another. There was a verbal argument prior to the shooting between the victim and the landlord, police state. A weapon was recovered.

An autopsy is pending.
