A top lawmaker in the Congressional Black Caucus says tea partiers on Capitol Hill would like to see African Americans hanging from trees and accuses the movement of wishing for a return to the Jim Crow era.

Rep. Andre Carson, a Democrat from Indiana who serves as the CBC’s chief vote counter, said at a CBC event in Miami that some in Congress would “love to see us as second-class citizens” and “some of them in Congress right now of this tea party movement would love to see you and me…hanging on a tree.”

Carson also said the tea party is stopping change in Congress, likening it to “the effort that we’re seeing of Jim Crow.”

The explosive comments, caught on tape, were uploaded on the internet Tuesday, and Carson’s office stood by the remarks. Jason Tomcsi, Carson’s spokesman, said the comment was “in response to frustration voiced by many in Miami and in his home district in Indianapolis regarding Congress’ inability to bolster the economy.” Tomcsi, in an email, wrote that “the congressman used strong language because the Tea Party agenda jeopardizes our most vulnerable and leaves them without the ability to improve their economic standing.

“The Tea Party is protecting its millionaire and oil company friends while gutting critical services that they know protect the livelihood of African-Americans, as well as Latinos and other disadvantaged minorities,” Tomcsi wrote. “We are talking about child nutrition, job creation, job training, housing assistance, and Head Start, and that is just the beginning. A child without basic nutrition, secure housing, and quality education has no real chance at a meaningful and productive life.”

Carson is hardly the first lawmaker to use heated rhetoric. Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.) yelled “you lie” as President Barack Obama was addressing Congress. Rep. Randy Neugebauer (R-Texas) yelled “baby killer” at former Rep. Bart Stupak (D-Mich.) as abortion was being discussed during the health care debate.

Carson, who represents Indianapolis, is the second Muslim to ever serve in Congress. He has been in office since 2008, and took the seat that was held by his late grandmother — Rep. Julia Carson (D-Ind.).

"95%er" is a much more accurate term because it shows just how fucking warped 95% of da comunity is when it comes to politics and economics and why blacks as a whole are always seemingly stuck in the mud.

Instead of following people like Walter Williams, Thomas Sowell, etc, not they flock to race hustlers, poverty pimps, economic illiterates, and racial grievance peddlers.

Today in Atlanta after addressing the Georgia State Assembly, Presidential Candidate Herman Cain was asked about the incendiary remarks made last week by Reperesentative Andre Carson who said that members of theTea Party Wants to See Black Americans 'Hanging on a Tree'. (Shown below with other comments made at job fairs around the country held by the Congressional Black Caucus.)

Cain responded,

“Those remarks are disgraceful. Those remarks are a distraction. Those kinds of remarks are intended to discourage citizens from speaking their voice through the tea party movement. If there were racism in the tea party movement, I would be one of the first people to recognize it. I grew up in Georgia before the Civil Rights movement, during the Civil Rights movement, after the Civil Rights movement. I would know racism if I saw it. I have not seen it, nor have I experienced it in the tea party movement.”

It is time kooks like Carson, Maxine Waters and our own local smudge on society Macon City Councilwoman Elaine Lucas be held accountable for the hate filled rhetoric spewed out only to cause a division and help them get reelected.

ADVERTISEMENT In response to recent comments made by Indiana Democratic Rep. Andre Carson and California Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters that denigrate the tea party movement, Florida Republican Rep. Allen West — a member of both the Congressional Black Caucus and the Tea Party Caucus — sent a letter to CBC Chairman Emanuel Cleaver Wednesday requesting that the body condemn such remarks.

“As Chairman of the CBC, I believe it is incumbent on you to both condemn these types of hate-filled comments, and to disassociate the Congressional Black Caucus from these types of remarks. Otherwise, I will have to seriously reconsider my membership within the organization,” West wrote. (OPINION: Andre Carson:Serial racebaiter)

The freshman congressman declared, “It is unconscionable when a fellow CBC Member, Congressman Andre Carson, comes to South Florida and claims that some in the Tea Party would love to see black Americans ‘hanging on a tree.’ It is appalling to hear another CBC colleague, Congresswoman Maxine Waters, say ‘The Tea Party can go straight to hell.’”

West added that Carson’s comments, which caricature the tea party movement as a group of racists, are “baseless” and “desperate.” West reiterated that the movement is focused on fiscal responsibility and American Exceptionalism and wrote that the the CBC should be working to end the “balkanisation” of America. (RELATED: Rep. Allen West decides against campaign for Senate)

“As a member of the CBC, I look forward to working with you to help end this practice. All of us, especially Congressman Carson, Congresswoman Waters and others who have engaged in racially-motivated rhetoric, should follow the example of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., not the example of Reverend Jeremiah Wright,” West added, concluding that he hopes to work with the CBC to bridge divides.

The sad part is that a sizable number of blacks will believe this mindless toilet bug and his incoherent rambling.

The problem with liberals ( and by extension most blacks in America) is the herd mentality. Don't worry everyone, according to the totally unbiased AP, Carson only used a "lynching metaphor"! Phew, all clear folks!

Also, fear not, MSNBC's Tamron Hall moderated this "Debate" so we know that everything was on the up and up!

Oh, and again, stop whining about it! Former Obama aide turned NBC reported Joy-Ann Reid did a bang up job detailing the debate but didn't have a single mention of Rep. Carsons "lynching metaphor"! It didn't happen!
