Did the blood pressure interfere with your lifting?  I ask because I have high blood pressure and am going to finally go get it checked out, but my workouts have been getting worse and worse over the years to the point where I finally just gave up.  I'm trying to figure out if the blood pressure is to blame... I've tried practically everything else I can think of, nothing helps.
Yes, I used to train at home, and today, as I was visiting my parents, my mom said that she remembered me crawling up the basement steps. I had trained arms...superset style.

When I joined a gym, I stopped the squats, as it would send my BP thru the roof. My doc had told me to stop with the weights---after my scare, it got to the point where I was scared ro do pushups...I went from 175-180 to 118 pounds. It has had a huge mental effect...whereas I used to eat anything and everything, I sometimes now eat only one meal aday, if that...you could sit a plate of food in front of me, and I won't touch it...had it been before Feb 2007, the food and the plate would be gone.

Weight training, especially heavy weights raise BP significantly, especially if you are predisposed to hypertension...
You have to weigh is it worth having X inch arms or your health...

yes,, as i suspected,, it is genetic and the supp didnt add ,, they made it worse,, funny thing is that hormones probably wouldnt msake it worse,, its the supplements and especialy the creatine and that damn
BIOTEST MAG which i trieed on myself once! that caused even worse situation than you had...

i treied biomagtest,, i wanted to try it ,, it was so BAD ,, it waas side effects wrapped in a bottle ,, it was HORRID,, those things are the cause to the sides and the bad name steroids have,, its when you try to go around the steroids and create half way steroid or pro hormone ...thats when shit happen

I know the feeling of blood pressure going through the roof... i actually got exertion headaches a couple of times on leg press, scared the shit out of me!  But beyond that I also feel like my body has just been shutting down over the years.  Can't get a pump anymore, and i feel the weight less and less in my muscles and more in my joints.  You ever get anything like that?  Or were your problems more of the "wow my head is going to explode" variety?

It was the "wow my head is going to explode", coupled with severe tiredness and shortness of breath...like I over exerted myself...but I would get those banging headaches, like somebody was hitting my head with a sledge hammer with each heartbeat...bam, bam...bam,bam, and the shit would echo...I could feel it in my ears...
Sometimes when I lifted, my hearing would blank out, but I could hear, it was like it was monotone, like stuffed up...

Let me qualify my reply by saying I am not a doctor. Supposedly, one of the ways people with high blood pressure can lower it is by doing cardiovascular exercise. Weight training has some cardiovascular components. Of course if you hit the gym all hyped up and stressed out, don't warm up, start squatting with really heavy weights, holding your breath, you will probably have an episode of high blood pressure....maybe even a stroke if you are that out of shape.

Your doctor gave you bad advice.

Light weights, yes...heavy no...I can now lift, but at the time, the goal was to get my BP down to a very manageable level, and to get my cholesterol level to heavy level...
Cardio is good...the thing is, I used to count on my high metabolism to kick in,
I once had a doc tell me that I was Overweight due to BMI---I was 175 with abs like whoa, and a defined face...but later on, just because you don't look like you have hypertension, doesn't mean you don't...
I had two docs, one was the my main doc, the internist, and the other was a nephrologist, one of the best in DC area, and both stated to cut down drastically (at the time) on weight training. The risks far outway the small gain.

There are a number of things that are responsible for hypertension. It can simply be the luck of the draw....genetics. Stress is known to be a huge contributor too. Of course, carry around a lot of extra weight is a problem as well. I suspect that it makes little difference whether that weight is muscle or fat, it's all hard on our hearts. Diet is a contributes to hypertension as well. Too much salt can cause high blood pressure. Alcoholism can cause high blood pressure.

When done responsibly, weight training can be a benefit to our health and our blood pressure. Like you suggest, going heavy with the weights when you already have blood pressure issues is bad news. However, one of the ways people can lower their resting heart rate is by raising it temporally via exercise.

Looks like he's going for the health look.

A few mgs of test each week, winny once in a blue moon and a couple tic tacs before the gym. Easily maintainable physique.

He's clearly trying Dorian's cycle from MD; obviously just a good responder like Dorian.

Perhaps he should move on from Milos. Although Milos can be very convincing...

Move to someone like Oscar Arden... low doses and blood work. Oh wait, it's Farah who demands blood work. :D

Doesn't matter who a guy like this works with.

I can see Milos advicing this Bull guy:

"Now I want you to take 20iu of insulin before training"

"I'm already taking 60iu before and another 60iu after"

Interesting thread; I didn’t dabble in much other than AAS but it was M1T that I couldn’t take.

Just taking one or two made me tired so I threw it out.

Hearing Swolecat’s name is blast from the past and didn’t know he died.

You cannot equate a small test dosage with an equal spike in BP the body does not work that way. if you keep estrogen in check and sodium low you should not see any ill effects really.

I realize this post is from 2011, but yes.

How can 500mg of Testosterone a week cause a 15 point rise in systolic blood pressure?  ???

That seems off to me.

I’m sure it can for some people; just bloat from aromatization alone can spike someone’s BP quite a bit.

Seems is a factor too..
