Great valid response! Because most of what we see in the media these days are swedish artists and back in the day it was mostly only swedish rock everywhere

When did the focus move away from Talent to "shock factor" ?
When did the focus go away from people actually Playing Instruments to No one playing Anything?

When did "we" get more impressed with people that has Less talent? Compared to those that have more..

You could be right, chimps.  I stopped listening to music after i heard run DMC, Cool Mo Dee and the first generation of so called Rappers.  I say, "so called", because Cab Calloway and those ole school guys did something similar to rap but they were still musicians.

exception to the rule was Curtis Mantronix.

Shock factor's always been in music. Wagner loved it. Your second point about actually playing instruments (and being driven to play) is bang on, tho.  :'(

Gimmicks/shock are fine, but if you have some tangible talent, music-wise, that's the lasting, real thing.

Heard on the radio yesterday: the Kiss cruise. Yes, you can take a cruise with Gene and Paul, and celebrate the triumph of spectacle over art. Book today, Swede.  ;D

haha. When I was a kid every friday in school, I guess in like second grade or something, we had something special going on in the class, some times playing a band, and sometime someone would tell stories etc.

Anyway, one time me and a few friends did a kiss "concert"  ;D painting and everything. I was the drummer lol.

After I saw this 1995 at 6 yr old I was hooked.

I ofc looked up the Real band right after lol.

edit* lol, first comment has the exact same story but he was 7 (the comment section is Packed with the same story apparently)

edit 2* wow, that sounded better back in the day lol

That's cool. One of the first records (LPs), if not the first I ever bought, was Kiss Alive. I still remember the look on my Mom's face when I brought that one home. Maybe the same reaction parents had when kids brought home Beatles, Presley or 'race' music?

Yeah, I had the paper gun too...haha!

My friend bought the "Originals", the first 3 Kiss albums in one collection, which we would blast on his parent's 6 foot long console stereo when they weren't home.

Yes, we're getting old.
