Republican Rage - aholics
« on: September 06, 2011, 09:29:20 AM »
Does anyone else notice that many conservatives on this site just have mean shit to say all day?

I don't know how many times I've been labeled a communist traitor who needs to learn a lesson.

Now, I'm sure the name-calling goes both ways, but I just don't see liberal leaning people on here so angry and violent nearly as much as those on the right. Maybe I'm just thinking of 3333... and HH6, but it seems like every post is just spewing violent hate at all times.

Doesn't even matter who is in the White House, who controls Congress, etc., it just keeps going on and on.

I'll probably get some replies to this thread which are borderline threats. Maybe they will start out with "HEY ASSHOLE...." which I have already seen once today.

Anybody agree or am I just projecting too much from a couple of angry white men on the boards?

Thanks.

Hey asshole, I didn't want to disappoint you. I think you fail to realize that people are pissed off. Plus, we don't have to agree with you and your liberal viewpoint.  And you really give yourself away with the  "angry white man" line. So yeah I'll "question your instinct's". The libs on here do it all the time.....let leaning hahaahaha!

but weren't you just as mad with Bush in the WH?

I guess my larger point is that a lot of ppl seem addicted to it, no matter what's happening politically.

My guess is talk radio, which is incessant, saying things like those who disagree are trying to destroy the nation intentionally, take away guns, etc.

Yes, it is true there is incessant liberal hate speech:

“Republicans are evil sons-of-bitches. The Republican Party needs to be murdered. It needs to — it’s like if you had a nest of rats in your house, or a hornets nest under the eaves at your barn or your house, and you knew they were going to do harm to you, your family, your kid — if you live on the farm, your livestock, whatever. What would you do? Of course — you’d get an exterminator and you would murder the nest and get rid of it. Just get rid of it. This is what America needs right now; they need to have the Republican Party eliminated, totally, completely. It is destructive, it is negative, it is sick. [laughs] A mercy killing is what’s needed here.”

Beach - Malloy is actually a valid example but there are many more Right Wing radio kooks than on the left (perhaps you recall the arguments by right wingers how left wing radio doesn't even really exist in any signficant numbers)

other than that I see no proof whatsoever of "incessant" hate speech except on the far right

I do see a clear pattern of Repubs whining about being victims

I think it might even be part of the official Republican Platform

There are kooks  in politics, probably not as many as we think because they get a ton of press. Moderate voices are drowned out and the message is lost. The fact, and I believe that it's a fact, that this nation doesn't have a true "journalistic media" anymore to keep politicians in check and get us the real story is, in my opinion, the main reason we have arrived at this point. Maybe it's not but it's damn close.

Each side has cheerleaders for each sides respective audiences, they both edit things, take things out of context and do their damnedest to protect their own interests as well. They are for-profit businesses. I can't tell you how many times I've seen posts on any number of boards that go like this "Well, so and so edited that tape, fine, but the so and so news network does it all the time!" Same thing with politics.

I actually think that I get more thoughtful discussion on this board than I see on TV regardless of what channel I'm on. You have to wade through a lot of All-caps posts, general zaniness and the like but it's there. I believe most of us get whats going on, we just it through a slightly different prism and that is reflected in our posts.

Good points.

It's true that moderation does not sell, especially in talk radio.

I've never heard of this guy, but that illustrates my point even more about talk radio. The right simply owns the airwaves.

And they say some really nutty things to very large audiences. I remember Beck saying that he couldn't rule out that Obama had gulags in the US. Now, I know I've heard nutty people saying things like this about Bush, but hardly anybody listened to them. They were considered a kook and got hardly any airplay (and rightly so).

Gigantor made some great points about the middle getting drowned out. That is undeniably true.

I always wonder if things could spill over catastrophically here, especially as the economy worsens (which it will surely do, no matter who controls what office). The Rwandan massacre was largely encouraged over the radio. Of course, those grievances had existed through generations. But it is just crazy the amount of rage.

I don't think people who disagree with me are trying to destroy the country intentionally. It's a very dangerous idea to put in people's heads and could very easily lead to violence.

I never watch your youtube videos or the articles you copy and paste.

I don't think many people pay attention just based on the amount of garbage you throw everywhere and the wild conspiracy theories you're always pushing. It's just too nuts.
