I don't think it was caught...if the 1 ton weight is correct, then that croc was a captive crock and was fed a lot of chicken and beef. I think it may have escaped or was being moved...
In order for a croc in the wild to obtain that type of weight, he'd be feeding on some very large prey and regularly...like cattle, humans (dead or alive), or large fish. And since they are ambush predators...the former rather than the latter would be the best choice.

Alligators over ten feet are to big and dangerous. Down South they will kill them once they get that size. They pose to much of a threat to small kids. That thing could eat a full grown man no problem.

Yeah, I don't necessarily see it as being abused, but I do agree it should be returned to its home and left to live its life as he wants. If that includes eating a kid or two, so be it. We are no more owed a free existence than any other animal or creature. If this crocodile tends to eat dumb humans from time to time, then humans need to stay the hell out of his living area.

It is not only our planet. We don't own everything.
