Hypochondria on Getbig
« on: September 06, 2011, 05:21:06 PM »
Seems like there are a lot of hypochondriacs on getbig....

A few months ago when disturbia got into depth about his personality disorder, we had tons of threads popping up with people thinking that they might have one as well, are depressed or somehow else mental....

Now we have Luke Wood die from kidney failure and people are afraid to take creatine, I don't want to know how many here are fearfully watching their piss each time if there is foam and how many already have seen a doc because of some bubbles in the shitter.

Is the internet responsible for this? Or are people on this site rather clueless when it comes to health issues?

it's a pretty common phenomenon these days, especially with information so readily available.  the amount of people that self diagnose from online sources and conclude they have some sort of terminal disease or chronic condition is pretty crazy.  sometimes I work myself up a little when researching an ailment, but it's important to keep things in perspective and not assume the worst case scenario.

I feel bad for people like failcan that think every little twinge is surely a minor heartattack and the big one is right around the corner.

Worse is you have people here fearing all types of food and individual ingredients despite the mountains of evidence not being in their favor.  People are morons.

I don't want to shave it cause I don't want it to grow rude like my hair all over my chest and abs, I have to shave it everyday now

my girlfriend waxed it once and I hated it, it got all red and it was irritated for a month

stav stav stav, bro you gotta visit the girl board more, some really good insight on this stuff.

First time you wax, especially in a area never done before, that's normal. Yes it hurts, but it didn't grow back as fast did it? UM NO ;D

The day I was rushed to the hospital, I had looked up online signs of a stroke---or very high blood pressure. I was already having problems going to sleep as I would have a throbbing pain in my right foot---I'm talking Throbbing! Well, my neck muscles were throbbing as well, that day. I was living with my folks at the time, and I happened to look at my eyes in the mirror when I got home. They were bloodshot...red as fuck. My dad took my pressure, and then rushed me to the hospital---my right shoe felt like it was tight as fuck, and my foot felt like it was as big as a football (obviously water retention).

For anybody who has hypertension, do not take Sudafed or Theraflu, as it contains Pseudoephedine (or anything that has it) which elevates HB. If you have pre-existing kidney issues, do not take creatine, and lower your protein intake, and WATCH your sodium intake... Which means limit or get rid of sodas in your diet and limit fast food as they are loaded with sodium.

I never really thought about my health that seriously before I went to Afghanistan. I mean I ate well enough to be thin and hold muscle, but that was about it. I just figured I would never get seriously ill and never even gave it much thought.

Since I've gotten back I've become at least a borderline hypochondriac. I feel like my survival is in jeopardy a lot now. I've been in and out of VA clinics quite a bit this year, with unexplainable pains - chest (near heart) and in kidneys. I hadn't gone to the hospital in years and years before that. They can never find anything wrong in tests and I'm pretty sure they are convinced I have some form of PTSD. I always just deny because you either end up in a psyche ward or on a bunch of crazy ass drugs, and I'm not going for any of that shit. Then again, they think anybody that deployed has it.

Not really showing any other signs of PTSD, other than hypochondria, if it's even fair to call it that or if it is even a sign. It did lead me to eat better and quit smoking, so maybe it's even a good thing long term.

As you get older, I'm 35 now, I think you start to think about catastrophic health problems more seriously naturally. My dad had major heart surgery last year, which scared the shit out of me - quintuple bypass. I'm not sure of the correct level of fear to have, or if there is one, but it ain't the same game as ten or even three years ago.

Could be the steroids. Not that I care to talk about your balls, but perhaps you had small balls prior to the usage of the Anabolic Outlaws most formidable foe.
