But she doesn't "need to" either.  The problem is that when you actually acknowledge this type of stuff it takes on a life of its own.  Vast majority of celebrities accused of any of this type of stuff just ignore it.  And my question would be why would Glen not have come forward 3 or 4 yrs ago when Palin's popularity was at its highest?  I'd bet my life he was an Obama voter and this would have certainly hurt the entire republican campaign.
