I have never heard anyone following bodybuilding unless they train themselves.

Lots of schmoes follow bodybuilding and they never train!  Do you really think everyone who buys a BB magazine, videos, and autographed photos of BBs is  gymrat?  You have to understand how schmoes think: why build your own muscles when you can rent them by the hour?
