in the old days, the magazines would have worked with a BBer's "team" to compose a story about exactly what happened to that arm. MAYBE some evidence would emerge to counter it, but the official story would be the official story.
Imagine if Vince Taylor's "eyeball" incident had happened today?
You know, he was at the show with eye patch, claiming luggage strap hit him in the eye getting off plane. Only later did a pic emerge showing him getting off the plane laughing and certainly without an eye injury. Whether Vince really hurt his eye elsewhere later, or just wore the patch cause he missed his peak and got 6th at the O instead of 1st (helsinki 92, right?)...
Well, whatever really happened, we know his story was bullshit. If it happened today, I don't think he'd tell such a fib. Jay's casual lie has spurned polls all over his home base of MD saying "why is he lying about his shot, does he think we're stupid".
