Absolutely. Zane looked like shit.

Zane physique was good maybe for men's bikini but bodybuilding..?... oh bro  ::) ::)

I don't get all the hype. Title should be taken from him retroactively. It was clear mistake and gives  bb a bad name.

Zane had one of one best, most aesthetically pleasing builds to ever grace a Olympia stage. Mass with class if there ever was one.  Columbu's early 80's win was the worst Olympia win. Today's competitions are more akin to a cattle auction than anything requiring beauty or grace.

He carried a good amount of muscle on frame and had great lines, etc..... He was a small man that took his physique to the max because he understood that, he understood that he couldn't out muscle the others so he had to do it with such things as proportion, etc.......

.

I can appreciate the freak factor in body building for what it is now.... but I also understand that there is also another side to to it, which Zane represented ably.

Bodybuilding is toooo subjective. One person doesn't like Zane while another does. Bottom line, unlike now, back then was real bodybuilding with real training and yes of course drugs but nothing like the bullshit you see now.

i totally agree about franco in 81 and dickerson in 82 because i watched the whole videos of these 2 shows but not very sure about arnold in 80,.. need to watch the full video to judge..

I think Zane looked his best in the early 70s, when he wasn't as ripped as he was later on. He had incredible legs and calves back then (early 70s).

Zane is a myth, in my opinion thats how the bodybuilder should look like.. maybe a little bit bigger, but not that much.
And also doesn't look to me that he was a guy who used a lot of stuff,, and you can see how he is nowadays.. looks absolutely great! For me the guy is an inspiration.
