When I caught myself saying things that my dad used to say - like "You'll put your eye out doing that!"

I'm 35 and still spanking it twice daily.

Is this normal?

Early 40's and I don't notice anything different than 25 years ago.

Same strength and energy. No aches or pains 'cept maybe the ball and chain.

lately, I have the urge to pee really often. This makes me feel old. LOL!

Oh, did you mean when working out. My workouts are going well. Maybe it's the routine I do where I only work each muscle group once a week. But, no problems with recovery. Of course being retired, I can and often do sleep 10 hours in a night. Sleep is like the magic healer.

The mind is a powerful tool. If you think you're old you will be. I still look to the younger guys at the gym for workout tips and comparisons. My wife thinks that's crazy. She'll tell me something like, "You're not twenty anymore." True, but if I can lift like a twenty-something does, more power to me.  I think this is progressive and positive thinking.

I felt I was good, meaning no noticeable decline in athletic performance and feeling great, until about 38.  I was still going strong keeping up with my training program and competing but started becoming more conscious of my age which previously I really didn't give much thought to before. At 39 is when I started TRT. I really hit the wall when I turned 46. Nothing special about that number but that's when things noticeably started to fall apart. Everything from looks (wrinkles starting appearing), losing strength, recovery ability took a big dive, aches and pains constantly, always stiff and creaky, I've always been prone to injury but it got to the point where I got pretty fragile and I have to watch and limit some of the things I do. And there are now things I am simply unable to do. I probably do barely 20% of what I use to do because I've had to cut back so much. And still I drag. I look back and can't believe the daily program I use to follow. It would kill me now. Training 5-6 days a week twice a day. Hell, on Saturdays I would go to the gym from 8am-9:30am, then Jiu-Jitsu from 10-12noon, lunch, then Judo class from 2-3:30pm, and after hanging out with the team and eating and BS-ing until around 6:00pm I would go home and go at the heavy bag for about an hour. I was essentially training all day.

Physically speaking, it really, really does suck to get old. And you know it's only going to get worse.

Physiologically there seems to be a worsening at 50yrs and 70yrs of age, but it also has to do with the strainful years you had. Guy like Vince Taylor started bb quite old, and he is/was good into his 50's. Rich Gaspari started very early and heavy and look at him now at, what, 48 or so ?

Oh and this...if I drink a beer and then drive...no matter if its one beer or three, I have to freakin pull over every single muthaf&%kin time on the way to where I'm going to empty my bladder. And the older I get the less concerned I am about where I empty it. The other day I just stopped at the lights, opened the door and kind of rolled sideways, lent over and let it go.

How about not drinking beer and then driving?  ::)

Personally I think it's a pretty cool idea but just tastelessly executed. Lights are too bright and get rid of the white paint job, ugh.

I've been getting called sir a lot lately.

This seems to be the breakthrough year for not getting carded for alcohol anymore as well.

Oh well, I'm living every last day I can get my greedy hands on.

Isn't it amazing what youth and pure physical strength and mental willpower can do? I wonder if you and I are around the same age?

You can't explain this shit to kids. They won't listen (and neither did we)

I don't think I really had a psychological "middle age".  I went from identifying with 25 year olds to 70 year olds at around age 48.
