Thanks Che... I think Apply (or whatever) can do up the diatribe thing quite well too. Are there any artists here? Like painters or sketch artists? Here's some of my stuff: I play cello and sketch (does etch a sketch count? Naw, just kidding) I find that doing caroons helps...and have used people that come into contact as characters. I want to get into clay---using bbers as a base for some freaky figures.

Someone here just said that drawing isn't a talent....
Does that mean that anyone can do it... and do it well? How about paint?
I'm sure there are golfers, baseball players and all that shit here. Even computer graphics are skills. Speaking another language is a skill and might be someone's hobby.
How about swimming?
Geez.
Should I post the definition of "hobby" now? It isn't even our resident negative poster-boy "Uberman" talking... unless he has a gimmick account goin on ~ which just might be his *hobby*

drawing, is learned...anybody can draw, just some have innate abilitiy to do it "better". As a kid, I remember my i had a friendly competiton with a fellow 2nd grader who could draw Michael Jackson, like he was the real deal...for a 2nd grader...meaning his drawings were phenomenally detailed...me, well compare that to my Garfield, He-man, Donald Duck and Looney Toons drawings...he would win out. Each of us were always asked to draw something in class...booth of us like using the mechanical pencils....the hardness of the pencil lead led to better sketching. I didn't find out that drawing was a skill that could be "learned" until my cousin who is a Art Teacher and has done work for card companies showed me how a person can draw better. He stated that people always say, "I can't draw" like others say, "I can't read", when in fact if a person can read, then they can draw, and vice versa...they have to learn to read better and learn to draw better.

I enhanced it in photoshop later on. Recent drawing. I haven't had pencil in my hands for past 4 years and only had black tmobile crayon my ex gf who worked there brought home. Everything sucks as hell here I lost all my old sketches back from when I was a kid except from first drawing. Sucky HB pencil, my literally first attempt to draw anything after 4 years, for my ex gf

Yeah, GL, I agree.. to a point.
I've watched my kids grow up and already manage to make money in the business of Art. I don't know that the *genetic* factor played into it as much as "well if dad does it, I can do it too..."
In other words, neither of them ever believed that they couldn't. Now I am surrounded by a family of artists who far surpass my "skills" ~ not to mention the fact that they did it much quicker.
I think saying "I can't" is one of the hugest mistakes anyone can make. They already don't believe in themselves.

Part of my job is graphic design and cartography but it's been many years since I drew and painted although I excelled at it. A lot of my designs can be seen around florida on noise barriers in orlando, tampa, pensacola, miami, etc.
Btw I spent many hours after school playing twisted metal with my friends. I loved that game
