Yes! I really don't understand these at all. I really hope the majority of Americans aren't this goofy.
I know what people in this thread are talking about first hand, the majority of people in their early 20's that I know are completely ignorant/college students.
Many of these ignorant college students don't get that they can mitigate a lot of their costs to go to school.
The bulk of college costs are in three areas: Room, Board, and (in many cases) OUT-OF-STATE fees.
When I was in college, a typical 16-hour semester was around $2500. About $1600 of that was room and board.
My friend, who was from Philly, had the same amount of hours that I did one semester. But, because he was an out-of-state student, his costs were DOUBLE what mine were.
Granted, we were both on full-ride scholarships. Mine was academic; his was musical scholarship (he was a member of "the 100", which should tip you off as to where I went to school).
