Lured by cheap drugs and free food, creepy thugs have infiltrated the crowd of protesters camped out in Zuccotti Park for Occupy Wall Street, The Post has learned.


“I got warrants. I’m running from the law,” boasted Dave, 24, a scrawny, unshaven miscreant in filthy clothes from Stamford, Conn. “I’m not even supposed to be here, but it’s as good a spot as any to hide.”


Wanted for burglary, the drug-addled fugitive said some of his hard-partying pals clued him in that the protest was a good place to be fed, get wasted and crash.


“I’ve been smoking and drinking in here for eight days now,” said Dave, booze on his breath and his eyes bloodshot as he lay sprawled on a tattered sheet of cardboard. “I need to get some methadone. Every day, I wake up, and I’m f--ked up.”

Drugs can be easy to score -- a Post reporter was offered pot for $15 and heroin for $10.

A prime example, a short example and one that is easiest to explain.
NHL players on average are born in the month of january-may not because they're naturally better hockey players, but because regristration for higher levels of play are always started by the month of january. Schools try to reduce this stuff down to logical boxes, the reality is humans constantly act outside of these systems in bizarre ways. I am 27. I have 5 degrees but 0 debt. Total debt from my degrees was $17k (with a few hundred thousand dollars of scholarships), which I paid off before any interest was due! I don’t understand how people can have such huge student loans. If I didn’t get the scholarships I wouldn’t have gone. Please, those still in high school or undergrad - think it through before you choose more school. Predatory lenders are trying to scam you!
With an income of over $150k, I still fall in the 99% (I, too, am part of what the 99% looks like! Use different numbers if you want to represent different people. Clearly, I am well-off but “only” in the top 10%, not 1% or even 5%).

Ironically you guys are missing some key points, the social sciences are extremely important to our economy, to ignore this shows your lack of education.

People with degrees in the applied sciences(business/engineering etc), are the problem, as they have to much leverage over our economy. They live by theory(ironic for pragmatist) that a system based on numbers is superior to a system that is based on qualitative values. A prime example is the insane salaries these fortune 500 assholes make. Upon mentioning this you guys love to state the value of an numerical system, if one person can create the wealth of 100 people he logically deserves to be compensated accordingly, interfering with this would logically be a damper on the efficiency of the overall market.

 The problem is that only makes sense if you ignore the qualitative value that 100 people add to the economy. A person with a background in say pyscology will understand this on a scientific level. An economic system that places the element of control in the hands of a select few is bound for failure(which is happening right now btw).  Directly due to the fact that the human mind is limited on a biological level. We can't know everything which is a scientific fact, ironically the markets ignore this with an expert fallacy, and constantly place increasing value to so call experts(c.e.o's) In simple terms if management is seen as the markets intellects, and a market system values narrowmindness(few c.e.o's) than it's obvious the system is fucked!!!!!

Anyhow this is only one example how are systems is totally out of wack there are thousands more but don't for a minute pretend that these people don't have a reason to be upset.
 

Nope. Even 100 MikMaqs wouldn't solve even most simple problem from serious math competition. It takes intelligence to do so. Diversity is worthless in this case, it's always about choosing optimal strategy and solving problems. There are correct solutions and incorrect ones, crowd could create 1000000 solutions but 99.9% are wrong. Thus, system where few people intelectually superior to the others have the power is perfect system. Capitalistic system values real problem solving skills and truth to be told even though most Americans are superb at discussing worthless shit, when they face real problem they dunno what to do. That's exactly why top IT companies recruit people from eastern Europe and Asia. Americans suck and have huge demands. You are used to so high standards of life that you're simply not cost-effective.

I have forseen this many years ago. As a kid I realised 90% of people are worthless now coz so much work is done by machines and manual labour becomes worthless. I think there were people who knew that as well, that's why they encouraged people to educate, get a degree and so on. They created billions of useless jobs and even whole new useless branches of "science" where there are no strict axioms and every bullshit can pass. Unfortunatelly it didn't work, coz we advanced technologically faster than we evolved (obviously) and it turned out that educating people won't make them IT specialists, coz for the most part once you're born and idiot you will remain an idiot. At the same time I think average level of life advanced too fast and expectations got incredibly high. Then there comes economical crisis and this system built on lies simply collapses. We have to face the fact that not everyone is equal and some people are useless. What should we do with useless people? I have no idea.

I have to disagree with the many college grads who feel entitled to a job.

You don't get any kind of guarantee when you get a college degree.  You CHOOSE to take on the debt, you CHOOSE to spend 4 years smoking pot and enjoying the loan $ INSTEAD of working your ass off on 2 internships in your field every year.

I worked in a college career center, and in my opinion, the biggest problem is this...
Kids don't realize the secret to getting a job is to LIVE that JOB for your 4 years in college.  

If you want to work in finance, that's awesome.  You're 18.  Don't just go to college for 4 years, get a BS in finance, then start looking for a job then post 99%er pics in anger when no job materializes.

Compare it to the 18 year old that decides he wants to work in finance... AND DOES IT RIGHT...
So he spends each of his 3 summers working internships at 3 different finance firms.  For free, while his friends are at the beach.
He should only date girls who are finance majors, or who have dads that work at banks.
He should read financial newspapers & magazines every day.  Know the world you're entering.
He should network - attend functions, build up a FB page not to get laid and brag about drinking exploits, but to get known as a kid who knows his stuff.
He should spend all 4 years designing his 'plan B' for self-employment, in case the industry starts to suck.
And if the industry does suck upon graduation, he should continue for his MBA - you get educated in recessions.

Compare this 22 year old finance guru with a shitload of experience, connections, knowledge of the industry...
with the 22 year old yelling that nobody wants to pay him for his degree.
Firms would be LUCKY to have a go-getter like the finance whiz kid who lives that shit.  
The other kid is going to do as little as possible his entire career.

As an alternative to occupying Wall Street... There should be a movement called "Occupy MAIN Street".

All the protesters should go home, do a google search on "How to start a business", then open up shop.  They have all the wisdom and skills in the world, thanks to the very expensive degrees they've been bragging about.  Let them show everyone how things SHOULD be done in the business world.

If they offer a higher quality level of personalized service, they will be able to overtake such global monopolies on Business such as Wal-Mart.  If they offer a better understanding of their product or service, customers will flock to them.  One side effect of globalization is that customer service now sucks... you aren't buying paint from a painter who worked 'in the field' for 20 years then opened a paint store.  You're buying it from an undertrained cashier at the Walmart ammo/fishing/paint counter.

So in my humble opinion, the protesters should put their training, wisdom, and passion to better use.  Occupy Wall Street by leaving, Starting your own business on Main Street, building up your own success... then let Wall Street come to you.  (At which point you'll happily sell out and go corporate, but that's another thread...)
