Enjoy being a registered sex offender

A well-known photographer charged with having sex with a 15-year-old girl pleaded guilty Friday to felony unlawful sex and was sentenced to perform 30 days of community service.

The case became problematic to prosecute said the DA because the victim stopped cooperating and married the defendant when she became of age.

Orange County Superior Court Judge Craig Robison also placed Jason James Ellis on three years of probation, according to court records.

Three felony counts of lewd act on a child, and single felony counts apiece of sexual penetration of a victim younger than 16 by a foreign object, and oral copulation of a person younger than 16, were dismissed today, according to court records.

All charges against Ellis’ former fiancee, Michelle Hecker, were dismissed March 25, according to court records. She was charged in July 2008 as an aider and abetter.

Orange County Deputy District Attorney Andrew Haughton asked that the charges be dismissed because he said in March that he did not have enough evidence to prove his case.

Hecker met the victim, who shared her passion for horseback riding, when she was 14 years old, according to prosecutors who initially alleged she introduced the girl to Ellis to help her with a modeling career.

Between August 2007 and June 2008, Ellis took the girl on dates to the movies and to dinner while kissing and touching her in public, prosecutors alleged when they filed charges against him.

The girl’s parents eventually grew suspicious and hired a private investigator to follow Ellis and their daughter, prosecutors said.

A 36-year-old magazine photographer pleaded guilty Friday to statutory rape, ending a case involving a girl he was accused of luring into a sexual relationship when she was 14 – and whom he married when she turned 18.

Superior Court Judge Craig Robison sentenced Jason James Ellis, whose work has appeared on the covers of fashion and fitness magazines, to three years probation and 30 days in jail to be served as community service, as part of a plea deal agreed to by the District Attorney's Office.

Ellis was also ordered to register as a sex offender for the period of his probation, prosecutors said.

Five other counts, including three of lewd acts on a child, were dismissed in the interest of justice, the Orange County District Attorney's Office said. He had faced up to seven years in state prison if convicted of the six felonies.

Ellis married the woman Feb. 28 in Laguna Hills – three months after she turned 18, county records show.

"The basis of the disposition and sentence was in the interest of justice and with respect to the victim and the victim's family's wishes in this case," Deputy District Attorney Drew Haughton said. "This case is obviously complicated by the fact the two are married now."

Following the wedding, the victim did not want to cooperate with the prosecution, the District Attorney's Office said..

Ronald Brower, the defense attorney representing Ellis, could not be reached for comment.

The Register is not naming the woman, because she is a victim of a sex crime.

Between August 2007 and June 2008, Jason Ellis, who lives in Corona del Mar, had sex with her when she was 14 and 15 years old, prosecutors said.

Ellis and his then live-in fiancée were accused of luring the girl into a relationship with promises of a lucrative modeling career.

The fiancée, Michelle Hecker, was not charged with having sexual contact with the girl, but she was charged with acting as Ellis' accomplice by picking her up from her parents' house in Laguna Hills, bringing her to him, and then taking her back home.

Charges against Hecker were dismissed in March.

According to prosecutors, the sexual relationship began after Hecker met the girl, an aspiring model, through their shared interest in horseback riding.

Hecker then introduced the girl to Ellis, who promised the teenager he could help her with modeling, prosecutors said.

Beginning in August 2007, Ellis began taking the girl to movies and to dinner, even kissing and touching the teenager in public, prosecutors said.

Hecker helped the relationship along, gaining the trust of the girl's parents enough to where she would pick the teen up from her home in south Orange County under the guise of going horseback riding or on some other outing, according to the original charges.

The girl's parents became suspicious of the relationship and hired a private investigator, who turned over information he had gathered to police.

Ellis initially fled the area after learning he was wanted in the statutory rape case, but was arrested 10 days later.

parents became suspicious lol, more like parents thought the sex she was having with him wasn't going to take her places aka she loved him. Look up stories about now famous actors when they were on the child actor casting couch, look up the polanski trial, parents always know what's up and often encourage it

Saw Jason at the Olympia - have lost all respect for this guy, and still is an ass.   Fact that he slept with a 14-15 year old, and his ex-fiancee helped him is just not cool.  Fact that he got this girl to 'marry' him and thus block the presecutors charges is amazing.  I just hope he does care for this girl, and doesnt dump her in a year or two now that the case is done, and he pled guilty to one of the charges.

I hope part of the ruling is as a registered sex offender, he stays aways from school and anyone under 18.

Still working and displaying his name proudly. Seems Heath and Flex Mag have no problem working with him. By today's standards there's nothing particularly scummy about him and nothing particularly innocent about her. Just people using each other for their own narrow self interest. It's the way of the world.

Interesting observation, PELLIUS, and most likely the way things happen nowadays.

What's the major cause of this change in morals since the 1950's? Is there any one thing that caused it to happen? Hippies, beatniks, drugs, TV, movies, the internet?

Interesting observation, PELLIUS, and most likely the way things happen nowadays.

What's the major cause of this change in morals since the 1950's? Is there any one thing that caused it to happen? Hippies, beatniks, drugs, TV, movies, the internet?

Without a doubt it was the culture revolution that took place in the late sixties early seventies. It took some time for the hippies to infiltrate our colleges and universities, and politics, so it didn't really start to manifest itself until the late 80's early 90s. The trend was there of course. Slowly gaining momentum but it really started to blossom by the 1990s.

So many bad ideas came out of that movement.

-- Malignant narcissism, the preoccupation of self, the "if it feels good -- do it" mentally. It use to be people thought more of what was good for their community, their country, the world. Now it's just what's good for me.

-- The idea that people are born basically good. This absurd notion is what undermined the importance and the teaching of goodness. After all, if one is born good, it is your natural predisposition, then why teach it? Nobody teaches you how to breath. It's natural. Just do what's natural.

-- The glorification of nature. That if something is natural it must be good. The fact is that most of what we do is to over come nature. The clothes, homes, air conditioning, agriculture, cars, indoor plumbing.... An it also applies to our natural -- our human nature. Part of being a civilized human being is overcoming you natural instinct. A man's natural predisposition is to take what they want rather than work for it. To sleep in and be lazy. To eat as much as you can. To lie when it suits you. To act out on your emotions such as anger leading to violence ....
People are always shocked when I say that men in their natural state are rapist. Without cultural, legal or moral restraints men will rape. And it happens every time when the law breaks down, during times of complete anarchy -- such as during war. During those time it's all raping and pillaging.

-- Tied in to the above is the idea to "go with your heart." To do what's natural. That a person does good because he has a good heart. That his heart determines his actions. Maybe, sometimes, but most times no. It's you actions that determine your heart. Your actions not only define you as a person but molds you as a person. What you do ultimately turns you into what you are. I remember the first time I shop lifted, I was nervous and afraid because I was taught it was wrong. But I did it. And when I did it the second time it was easier. And if I continued to do it it would have gotten easier and easier. But acting like a thief I was transforming myself into a thief. No one starts out mutilating little children they start with animals. They become cruel to animals and by behaving cruelly they transform themselves into monsters. They work their way from lizards and rats, cats and dogs, and finally human. There hasn't been a serial killing who tortured their victim that didn't start off being cruel to animals. Conversely, if you are forced to be polite, to behave with manners; so you don't eat with your hands, an insult people, piss where ever you like, you transform yourself into a civilized person. Same with goodness, act good, be generous and compassionate and you become that kind of person. So the reason you walk a mile to return the extra penny to the store is not so much for the benefit of the store but the benefit for you. Mormons go out on their missions to convert people. They're success rate is abysmal compared to the resources put into it. They do it because of what it does to the missionaries. It's a right of passage for them. When a 19 year old goes from Utah to Indonesia he does not come back the same person.

-- As the society has become more secular, people accountable ultimately to no one else but themselves. They are their own God, morality and ethics over time get more and more diluted.

I could go on forever, rejection of authority "Don't trust anyone over 30", but CalvinH is already fuming and I've long past the outer limits of the GetBiggers attention capacity.

Some good ideas came out of the sixties: civil rights, women's rights, minority rights... but even these have become prostituted. Far more harm than good came out of that generation that laid the seed of what we are experiencing today.
