Im trying to quit booze and the stuff that comes with it but its boring! What do you guys do who dont drink?? Model railways? Cinema? Bowling? Star gazing?

Spend time with loved ones. If you don't have that option you can spend more time working on turning your guns into cannons and your calves into cows.

Watching sports with bud's, taking chicks out on classy dates, nice resturants etc. The list goes on. There's alot to do, it just takes more effort than getting slammed drunk. Anyhow why do you need to stop drinking, the two things I mentioned are often cool to drink with in moderation.

Alot of the things get better when sober up, you got money for things you use to drink. so instead of taking a girl to a shitty pub and getting wasted, you spend the same amount of money on good food and end up getting laid.

Also if you can't drink, try becoming a weekend warrior. I love to spend time in the outdoors, canoeing skiing, hiking, biking, snowshoeing or anything else to increase my fitness, when you spend all day being active the last thing your gonna wanna do is get drunk.

When going out i end up drinking... still too weak to keep it minimal.

Read, work on web dev/design projects, photography, practice guitar, visit family/friends, spend time with the fiance, theater, movies, check out bands, play the odd video game, sports ( weather permitting ) etc etc. This all depends on whether or not I'm rehearsing with my own band.

Same. It was o.k. in my early twenties to drink and act stupid but people doing it beyond that age are what you call alcoholics.

I've never been a drinker and have never been drunk in my life.... back in undergrad I used to go out a lot... at one point we were out clubbing EVERY SINGLE night of the week! but even then I didn't drink, I'd just enjoy hanging with friends, dancing with girls, watching everyone get plastered! I was always the designated driver, never really bothered me or anything, was always a good time, and I don't think any of my friends thought I was a buzz kill or anything!

ARCH, I'm kinda like that also ... but I do enjoy a couple of cocktails when friends are in town.

But if you have a drinking "problem" .... definitely don't spend time in Las Vegas!

I have a number of friends of various ages who try their best to be 'recovering alcolholics', ..... some with up to ten years success within AA. ... and others just discovering the 12 Steps. (Or is it "10"?)

And since I've always been a two drink drinker (maybe twice a month as a result of an alcoholic family upbringing), I fail to see a real alcoholic's problem and at my prompting we usually end up in some downtown, shanty bar (the Western in particular) where you can step up to the plank and get a shot of tequila and a beer for two bucks.

And sometimes less if they have a 'special' going on.

I'll have one or two (Milllers and a Cuevo with a slice of lime and the salt shaker) and then head off to one of the $2 BJ tables or the $1 craps table and eventually return to the bar to find all my associates totally incapacitated with empty shot glasses stacked high like King Tut's tomb.

I keep telling myself not to take alcoholic friends into these kind of places but I keep on forgetting mainly because I enjoy seeing friends having a good time and see how high that pyramid can get ...

Alcohol is the doorway to good times providing it can be 'controlled'.

But I think that I'm the only drinker who is capable of controlling it.

One time I filmed all my friends DRUNK AT A PARTY!!! like COMPLETELY HAMMERED!! The wildest shit was going on! And then I showed it to them the next day! Man I tell you, some of them didn't drink for months after hahahahah

There was some bad shit in there... boyfriends cheating on girlfriends and vice versa, guys hooking up with two girls at one time, girls beating up their boyfriend (like abusively!), breaking shit in the house! LOL was a blast!

Uni stuff mostly or playing UT. If I have woman at that time then most likely sex.

Generally speaking drinking on fri/sat nights is overrated. Never did that really even when I used to drink.
