Well one thing is for sure.  Not a single IRS agent will vote for him lol...  106,000 IRS employees would be twiddling their thumbs after 999. By the end of his term, they'd be left with 15 employees lol...

I'm also guessing all of those people and business who prepare taxes will be largely out of work and won't be voting for Cain.  That industry will go from a 300 billion a year industry to 50 or less after 999.

I'm guessing if he did win, he wouldn't be able to get this through congress.  The lobby against it will be pretty big.

cant do anything without hurting someone for the most part so you have to do whats best for the whole within reason.

I agree though I dont think he could get this through even if he wanted.

Wow... Cain actually brings up the impact this would have on tax preparers.  It's a good point he makes that the cost many spend on that will no longer be needed and I do like that.  On the other hand, that'll be millions instantly out of seasonal work.

Here's another important thing that Cain mentions that should be talked about:

He's basically saying that business will pass on their reduced burden in the form of lower prices for the consumer and there will probably be some examples of that in some areas but overall I doubt that would happen.  corporations these days rarely pass on newly found avenues for saving to the consumer, there's little to no check on the pricing cartel that goes on.  Most likely prices would remain the same after 999 and at very best stay where they are longer than they might have.

Someone's never studied how competition works. Regardless of whether a corporation wants to lower prices or not, they'd be forced to lower prices when one corporation lowered theirs to get a leg up and steal market share.

But I'm not surprised given that you're trying to lump all corporation under the banner of a single "pricing cartel".

someone didn't read my entire post ;) QUOTE: "there will probably be some examples of that in some areas... little to no check on the pricing cartels" Yes I know how competition works.  In theory he's absolutely right.  This same concept is behind a lot of what Ron Paul backs up much of his policies on regulation with.  Yea BF, I understand all that... I'm just talking about what I think might not work.  I support Paul, but we've talked about why and how some of that shit might face problems too. Cain's 999 plan is just as adventurous as some of Paul's ideas.  I see no reason why we can't talk about Cain's plan on the same level.

I agree. I jumped all over you there. I apologize.

In this age of globalism and competitiveness, though, I don't see a corp. managing to hoard profits without another firm stepping in to steal market share. In this day and age, with funds flowing as freely between countries as they do, if some American firm is pulling that act a foreign firm will definitely step in. Firms have never had an easier time entering markets as they do now.

First he sites Greenspan as a great Fed chairmen then he mentions Kissenger as someone who influences his foriegn policy. This guy is a fucking disaster and a perfect choice for all the morons that voted McCAin the last go around. We all witnessed how well that worked out.
