Cool people in the UK, but their idea of healthy living is more along the lines of buying organic food rather than exercising. There's not much of a body culture there and the pub culture is a backbone of the country.

I guess for a lot of people there isn't much reason to work out when you're going to be covered up in multiple layers 10 months of the year.

Very true. You've probably meant it in jest but a serious reason would be that it's an island and largely been separated from Europe via .. well ... water so not a lot of migration took place until the last 50 years really leading to a dilution of the gene pool. If you Google it it's well know that Britain is considered to be one of the ugliest nations in the world. Also, it doesn't help that the weather is shit and people stay holed up drinking and eating.

Last time I was there, I noted that a fit-looking Brit was a total rarity. They don't have the abominations the US does, who tip the scales at 3-4-5 bills, but everyone I saw looked to be 240-250, soft, pale and doughy. The first home meal at a relative's house was a clue: I've never had a such a massive plate of sausage, mash, peas, and gravy put in front of me.

Where did you go up North ? sure the poor maybe fat and eat slop (just like every country), but the middle class eat well and are fit and good looking

and on Sunday have roast lamb/beef for tea
