Why don't pro bber's unionize?
« on: October 25, 2011, 03:26:45 PM »
It has to be the most idiotic thing not to, I mean how hard would it be to get 15 of the best bber's to hold a meeting even over telephone or in person just one time to put down guidelines and stop being exploited.  If the IFBB doesn't like it, they can just make money how they usually do hustling.  Only a few bber's actually make money off contests so it should be a no brainer.

If holding a meeting is that hard or out of the way for them, just hold it at the arnold classic in a banquet room or at the Olympia where they are naturally all together anyways.  When they come out, tell the promoter or person in charge if they do not get so and so no one is walking out on that stage.

Utter nonsense, only one guy out of thousands even gets a real paycheck. Why the hell would one guy lucky enough to get handpicked, share with everyone else. ???

What should they be after?  50% of the revenue from the Olympia?  The competitors took $825k, I wonder what AMI walked away with?

They should be after whatever they can get, get a look at AMI's books, see what they earn in net income each year.  Demand more money, the money goes to the top in the industry like corporations.  Refuse to do photo shoots(unless paid more), they get paid shit for that anyways, magazines will have no current shots.  Demand more money from sponsors, they just have to organize, it is such a small population of bber's that are professional it should be very easy to do.

I atepted to organize a union years ago...the ONLY one to try in the modern era....there wasnt enough interest from the athletes to pursue.  This led to the position of athletes representation, which at least gave us a voice.

Since that time, there are  many things I have  presented and adapted by the Pro League, prize money has gone up, the 202 (now 212) was formed, the Bikini Div, WP Division, rule changes, scoring changes, increased per diem, group health care available...The athletes are in a much etter position than 5-6 years ago

Funny thing is...not ONE of the big mouths stepped up to the plate when it came to showing support of a union...ZERO...not a Milos, a Lee Priest, Titus...when it came time to put up or shut up...they showed what they were made of...

Chic even though I hate you, I have to give you props for doing that, sorry to assume you didn't try it.  I can't believe why no one would want one, maybe they don't know what a union would do for them?

All bark, no bite for many of the loudest in the past.  Priest is my all time favorite...still bitching to this day, but didnt have the balls to be a part of the idea.  Unfortunately, when some of these guys were riding high, they didnt want to upset the apple cart, now that theyre back in the gutter...the voices get louder again, and they suddenly find their balls...lol

Actually, I was doing extremely well, as I had just finished runner up in 2 pro shows and qualified for the Olympia while under contract with GNC.  I could have just as easily sat back and done nothing except bitch like all the other guys, especially the loud mouths...

How can an appointed company guy be the pro athletes rep when he MCs many of the shows? In the past he was commenting on them via the broadcasts. Total conflict of interests.

When Bob is the pro rep everyone gets the shaft.

Hey chick...good for you that you tried to unionize....but in all fairness...don't you think that the guys back then (including yourself) risked being blackballed if they seriously tried to unionize???

also..are you still the athletes rep??..if not then why not?

When are the elections for athletes rep? Do you have to be an IFBB Pro to run for rep? I'm thinking about giving it a shot.
