How can an appointed company guy be the pro athletes rep when he MCs many of the shows? In the past he was commenting on them via the broadcasts. Total conflict of interests.

When Bob is the pro rep everyone gets the shaft.

Sorry Vince, but Bob actually comes off as a guy who gives a shit.

You have to have leverage to attempt a union.  People actually care if sports like baseball, football etc... go on strike.  You won't see anyone shed a tear (except for the shmoes) if bodybuilders decided to go on strike.

It's not a cohesive body of working people doing a real job. It's bouncers, dealers, guys living off men/women and then occasionally shaving, oiling, putting on a G-string and posing to clapping middle aged males that film them in high school auditoriums in the middle of bumblefuck.

Unless they reach the top  level  and then they're simply beauty contestants and pageant queens that are too bitchy and worried about their glutes to be united on any front.

I'm actually surprised that the top guys make so much! lol, I give props to guys like Cutler, Coleman, Heath, Labrada, etc... that they can make a good living in a "fringe" hobby.

There's no difficulty in replacing anyone.  Put 100 random men on 4g a week, you'd probably get a better top 20 than the current louts.

Actually, I was doing extremely well, as I had just finished runner up in 2 pro shows and qualified for the Olympia while under contract with GNC.  I could have just as easily sat back and done nothing except bitch like all the other guys, especially the loud mouths...

Do you think PJ Brawn will ever go pro?    Serious question.

AMI would shed a tear, the Olympia is a cash cow for them.

This is stupid the O is more of a job interview than a sports competition.

Could you imagine 20/30 guys in a lobby forming a union before an interview saying higher us all or else. ???

Seriously this shit is stupid, all they gotta do is make some up and comer from russia win and say they are looking for guys that have a certain look as the future of the O.Meaning the union is a fail before there first contest.

Anyhow if bodybuilders wanted to get serious they should form their own rival bodybuilding competition let x wrestlers etc, compete, than you might actually start something.

Unionize? Most of them can't even write their own names in the ground with a stick. Talk to them about "Union" and they'll think it's new slang for G4P.

I atepted to organize a union years ago...the ONLY one to try in the modern era....there wasnt enough interest from the athletes to pursue.  This led to the position of athletes representation, which at least gave us a voice.

Since that time, there are  many things I have  presented and adapted by the Pro League, prize money has gone up, the 202 (now 212) was formed, the Bikini Div, WP Division, rule changes, scoring changes, increased per diem, group health care available...The athletes are in a much etter position than 5-6 years ago

Funny thing is...not ONE of the big mouths stepped up to the plate when it came to showing support of a union...ZERO...not a Milos, a Lee Priest, Titus...when it came time to put up or shut up...they showed what they were made of...

Wayne DeMilla said much the same thing, when it came to drug-testing in an issue of IronMan back in '96. The bodybuilders would say one thing to him, agreeing with the testing (especially for the diruetics, particularly after Munzer's death). But, when they got to the Weiders, they did the 180 and WAILED that DeMilla was trying to undermine them and make them look bad onstage, begging Weider not to do any testing.

Pro Union!!!!  The competitors need to get together and refuse to keep showing up spending all this money on a show that will probably not even give them a paycheck at all unless they place in the top 3 spots.  What a load of horseshit.

Problem is....it's still a competition.....not 4th grade T ball where everyone gets a swing. tough to justify a check just because you show up. It's all relative...the superstars always get the lions share.....in other sports and ours as well.  people pay to see the top guys, and that's who makes out the best. At the Olympia, we've made changes where there is a minimum paid out, where years ago under Waynes rule....you got jack shit....which I thought was bullshit....and changed.

That is a good achievement.  But to qualify for the Olympia you have to do a lot of crappier shows that if you don't place well (top 1 -3) you are out grocery money, drug money, time put into the prep for contest.  You basically lose money on competing, what other sport can be said to have that problem at the professional level?

Many...most notebly...Golf.  Expensive sport, many hours/ money invested...only the best make the big bucks, get the endorsements, etc....

If you dont make the cut, you get nothing...if you make the cut, you could pocket minimum where you actually lose money, make a good amount, or make the big paycheck with a top 10-15 finish, depending on the tournament...
