There's a difference between a smack on the ass and a beating by a man telling his daughter he's going to beat her into submission. This pos couldn't even control himself, he actually went back for more and beat her. He said he would hit her in her face if she didn't turn over. By law, this is definite child abuse and she should be removed from this home. He is a control freak on a power trip and should not be in the care of any children. There is such thing as "communication" by talking. I am sure that if he explained to his daughter why she couldn't download music illegally she would have listened. The thing is, if she doesn't download music it's only out of fear not because she has learnt anything. He is installing fear into her, not any kind of lessons that she can take into her adult life.
I do agree with you, but....We don't know if he did talk to her before about dling stuff (probably did), and do you think all kids, especially 15 yr olds listen to their parents?
If dad said, "You download another song w/o paying for it, you are gonna get a whipping", and she does it, she has defied "his law", in his house, and she was warned...
Now, dude went overboard....
But, I bet she'll be a model citizen (unless everybody says, "poor baby", and doesn't weigh her actions as well. Dude is in the wrong, and she knows what type of dad he is. If he says "I'm gonna whip your tail", that means that he is gonna whip your tail.
