[movie] powelifting drama - all she can
« on: November 03, 2011, 09:09:32 AM »
looks riveting !

Luz Garcia, a high school senior in a forgotten Texas town, wants something different than the options awaiting her after graduation. She's earned a ticket out with admission to the University of Texas at Austin, but she can't afford to go. Her one shot is a scholarship for winning the State Powerlifting Championship. It's all or nothing for Luz . . . until nothing stares her in the face

Yeah, but how long had she been lifting? It's obvious she's a beginner, keep in mind the percentage of people out there who know anything about olympic or powerlifting for that matter. There's plenty of white people living in small towns who'd never go to college without basketball or football.
I've never heard of powerlifting scholarships though... :-\
top level powerlifters and strongmen still need to hold dayjobs that should give an idea how much money there is in the sport

This inspirational film could do for powerlifting what pumping iron did for bodybuilding!  :D

She's stronger than any mexican I've ever seen in the gym...

I guess Mexican is truly becoming the new black.

Now all they have to do is replace the token, well-rounded, authority-figure black guy (A'la Denzel) with the latino counterpart (Edward James Olmos).

We go from rich and compelling movies involving this guy:

Don't worry they'll always be at least one or two hollywood films a year about the black man's struggle...As far as Latinos Hispanics or whatever they want to be called as their numbers grow so does their political power and the demand for more roles. representing them in film and television. La eme should of finished olmos when they had the chance.
