Lou Ferrigno on Celebrity Apprentice?
« on: November 08, 2011, 09:26:07 PM »
Don't make him angry: The body-builder turned actor most famous for his role as "The Incredible Hulk" turns 60 on November 9. The Brooklyn-born muscleman first appeared on TV as the mad green monster back in 1978, and he's been going strong ever since.

The larger-than-life figure (he's 6-foot-5) first came to notice in the 1977 documentary "Pumping Iron," which follows the Mr. Olympia competition. The quiet, partially hard-of-hearing upstart attempts to unseat the reigning champ: charismatic, outgoing, confident Arnold Schwarzenegger. Ferrigno does not succeed, placing third.

The docudrama did lead to Ferrigno's show-business start on the small screen, and made Ah-nold a star. The bodybuilding king went on to movies and finally into politics as governor of California. Ferrigno became famous playing himself.

The muscular actor could be found in guest appearances as himself on the show "The King of Queens." The "Incredible Hulk" alum also had a cameo as a security guard in Ang Lee's CGI version of "Hulk" in 2003, and played himself in the comedy "I Love You Man." The guy can't get away from that original role: The actor will be voicing the part of the Hulk in the 2012 movie "The Avengers."

Ferrigno knows he's tied to the green fellow because of the fans. He said in an interview at the 2010 New York Comic Con, "Everybody just loves 'The Hulk.' They keep telling me they liked the original series better [than] they all liked the movies [with] the CGI or that kind of stuff." Maybe so, but no actor could match the bodybuilder's workout: At the age of 25, Ferrigno benched-pressed 560 pounds. Even at 50, he was still lifting 400 pounds.

The still-fit sexagenarian even served as Michael Jackson's trainer in the 1990s, as well as for his comeback tour in 2009. And watch for Ferrigno competing for a different kind of victory on next season's "Celebrity Apprentice."

Even at 60, Ferrigno is still hulking out.

When faced against the speed and recognition of Marco Andretti or the beauty and grace of Cherly Tiegs, figure Lou to be out in the first round. So who has more rage.....Lou or Paul Teutel of OCC?

The fifth season of NBC’s The Celebrity Apprentice (also known as The Best Show of All-Time) will begin filming next week, and an insider close to the production has revealed the identity of two of the contestants vying for Donald Trump’s affection. Three-time Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover girl Cheryl Tiegs will be part of the cast, as will race car driver Marco Andretti.

The 64-year-old Tiegs’ reality show experience dates back to 1978 when she competed alongside Gabe Kaplan, Parker Stevenson, and Toni Tennille on the ABC team for Battle of the Network Stars. She also appeared as a judge on the first season of ABC’s True Beauty in 2009. The 24-year-old Andretti is the grandson of racing legend Mario Andretti, and the son of former IndyCar World Series champ Michael Andretti. He may have a leg up on the competition in the marketing/branding department, having already displayed an impressive ability to wedge an obscene amount of corporate logos on his racing outfit.

The two stars will follow in the footsteps of such luminaries as Gary Busey, Rod Blagojevich, and that woman who used to open briefcases on Deal or No Deal, as Trump and Co. promise to once again raise ridiculous amounts of money for charity while offering up non-stop hilarity along the way. Season 5 of The Celebrity Apprentice (and the 12th installment in the Apprentice franchise) will premiere in early 2012.

    Clay Aiken - singer
Marco Andretti - race car driver
    Adam Carolla - comedian
    Tia Carrere - model/actress
    Lou Ferrigno - actor/bodybuilder
    Debbie Gibson - singer/actress

    Lisa Lampanelli - comedienne
Dayana Mendoza - model/former Miss Universe
    Aubrey O'Day - model/singer
    Dee Snider - singer
    George Takei - actor
Paul Teutul, Sr. - motorcycle designer
    Cheryl Tiegs - model/actress

I've seen the 2003 Hulk many times but I never spotted Lou, weird. That Avengers gig sounds...interesting.  ::)

LOL...Big Lou was just named one of the worst "athlete" actors of all time by Yahoo. LMFAO

WORST: Lou Ferrigno, "The Incredible Hulk"

Well, we can say this much for the world-class bodybuilder: Very few human beings had the massive physique needed to convincingly play the monstrous alter ego of scientist David Banner on CBS's 1977-82 comic book adaptation. (Arnold Schwarzenegger auditioned for the role but was deemed too short.) But Ferrigno didn't exactly need to clear off space in his bodybuilding trophy case for any Emmys -- although if there were a category for Best Car Throwing by a Radioactive Green Creature, he'd be a shoo-in. Nowadays, you can see Ferrigno angling for Donald Trump's approval on the current season of NBC's "Celebrity Apprentice." Just don't make him angry, Donald; you wouldn't like him when he's angry.

That contradicts what Lou said on an interview once. He said the producers were interested in Arnold but he wasn't, something to do with running around with green paint on and he pointed them in Lou's direction.
