He's had one gaffe, as have others. He can recover and he's still in this race.
Once the hacks start pounding on Newt (as they've done with Bachmann, Perry, and now Cain), it'll be the same horserace it is now.
a gaffe is saying something wrong, but when allowed to collect your thoughts and still show you have no idea about what is being said then that is called being stupid or ignorant. Obama for example said 57 states, in talk, during a conversation, thats a gaffe. If it was one on one and obama was allowed to collect his thoughts and someone asked, what do you think about the 57 states and he still insisted then he is in fact a moron.
everyone jumps on missteps, they happen when you are under that much pressure but when allowed to collect yourself and formulate a response you still fail to show knowledge then it means you have none.
my chem teacher said an alcohol group and drew CHO, which is carbohydrate, this is a gaffe when shown it he laughed and wrote the correct annotation. same premise.
