Didn't Ford already kill the GT40 program? I've seen 2 up close and they are one of the lowest stock build cars Ive ever seen. If Viper doesn't step up to the plate against the Vette ZR1, they will be left in the dust, no pun intended. Viper tries to keep things as traditional as possible when it comes to there builds. Meaning big engine, fat tires, big torque and a gas pedal. Dodge R&D needs to invest more into the traction issues the Viper has. What's the use of high HP when you can't really use it. At least from a standstill and not a race starting at 60-80 mph roll.
Ford is bringing it back...the 2005 Ford GT, Ford was developing a V10 at the same time, that V10 can be found in the Shelby GR-1 concept car...upwards of 600 hp...that engine should have been put in the Ford GT.
Ford had did something sneaky with the original GT, they had a show car and then said it was going to be released in 2005, they did this so that they could have the funds to produce the car.
And they set the target of the Ferrari F430---saying that the Ford could beat a Ferrari for less---albeit the
cheapest Ferrari. Ford again effs up, they had apparently either sold the name "GT40", or never really used it, because it was a nickname for the original 60s car, it was being used by another company, and that company said it was going to be XX million dollars to use the name.
The real diff between the Ford GT and the Vette ZR1 and the Viper, aside from the midengine of the Ford, is the Ford's interior was bespoked compared to the Viper or ZR1/ Z06. Viper looked like a kit car inside, Vette let's you down inside...Ford GT---it looked like a 100+k car inside...been inside one, love the switches, nice feel and weight to them.
The C7 Vette will correct that, and so will the next Viper, which will have help from Ferrari, but will keep the. V10.
