V6 = fail

A 305 HP V6 there dude. NA to boot.

Think about this.

The stock Mustang 5.0 in 1995 only put out 240.

The Cobra with the 351 only put out 300HP.

This V6 puts out as much horsepower as a V8 did 15 years ago... I think that says something about the technology of where the V6 has gone.

I'm sure your car is nicer... Does it make your penis feel bigger now?

I doubt that.

I've not driven the new Boss, but I'm sure it doesn't do very well. They're still using the same suspension as the GT, which sucks.

Some valid points,  I simply find irony in one who tries to knock a new Boss 302 for its handling, which you've never driven, claiming that Mustangs suck, yet you drive a very heavy much lesser handling and performing car with a V6.  The new Mustang is a superior performer to the Challenger, regardless of variant.  But people have there own tastes.

And yes, my car is nicer. ;D

A v6 just simply can't be considered a muscle car

So is mine.

That car was a rental, but that's neither here nor there.

Had you asked me my opinion on the challenger I would have told you all of the problems it has.

Instead you decided to "get me" with the fact it's a V6.

That's getbig for you.

Why not?

My car is not a muscle car. But then I drive imports.

There is a Porsche in this thread and it's a turbo charged flat 6.

Anyone going to say it doesn't have enough muscle?

I find your basis for what is and isn't muscle to be suspect.

That V6 has more horsepower than the 351 cobra 15 years ago but that would be ok in this thread also.

And how much torque does it have?? A 6 cylinder is closer to a sports car than a muscle car

Mine or the challenger.. The challenger has 268 lb-ft.

As a contrast, the SVT Cobra with the 302 put out 280.

So again, how is the SVT cobra from 1995 so much more muscle than the v6 challenger.

And also, why again are we ignoring the Porsche in the thread with the flat 6?

No, the V6 Challenger is not a muscle car, and here's why.  By nature, the V8 is associated with a muscle car.  Regardless of output of the V6, there will be a more powerful V8 variant available, which is considered the muscle car.  The Challenger is a land yacht, so a 300 HP V6 is not going to impress by today's standards.  You're trying to compare today's V6 output vs V8's from 15 years ago as justification to call a v6 a muscle car.  Standards change and so long as the a V8 is an option, the V6 is just the poor man's, or secretaries version by most definitions.  And no, the Porsche is not a muscle car either, it's a sports car.

Right , the original definition of a muscle car was a V8 stuffed into a little car.
