Not trying to be an ass here, but I never understood the whole "spousal abuse" thing in regards to women who stay with them for a long time.  Lets say I had a buddy and we were drinking beer one day and out of nowhere he says 'I know you like hanging out with Pete better than me" and commences an ass whoopin' on me.  I'm either going to beat his ass or if he kicks mine, I would NEVER hang around him again....no apologies, etc..
