Remember how radically spending increased under his Republican administration, not just on military spending, but also on "social" and "domestic" spending? Remember how radically deficits increased and the debt skyrocketed? Remember the invasion of civil liberties that occurred during these years? Remember how we were erroneously led and lied to in order to support an unjust war? Remember the socialist experiments in nation building and the over 6,000 US soldiers who died from this foolhardy idea? Remember the reams of new regulations that were made during these years? Remember how this all happened when the Republican Party controlled the White House and both houses of Congress? Remember how the American people got fed up with this and finally voted the Republican Party out of power for the Democrat Party, which is even worse?

If you want a repeat of that, then go ahead and vote Republican. If you want to help lead the Republican Party in a better direction, then vote for Ron Paul or Gary Johnson now... and when they don't get the nomination, vote for the Libertarian Party candidate, who better represents the republican ideal of limited government, low taxes, balanced budgets, free market capitalism, and a strong national defense. Will the LP win? Of course not. But if they spoil the election for the Republicans, then that will be a wake-up call. It will force the Republicans to start embracing true small-r republican ideals or face never winning an election again.

BTW, the Republican Party has a history of failed leadership:

- In the late 90s, Newt's "Contract With America" squelched any REAL change that Republican freshmen in the Congress wanted.

- George Bush Sr. raised taxes and increased spending despite his "no new taxes" pledge.

- Reagan radically increased "social" domestic and military spending, deficits, the national debt, and when all was said and done his overall tax cuts were very minor.

- Now, the Republican choice seems to be shaping up between the man that killed real change in the 90s and a former governor who radically grew his state's government.

The Republican Party has a history of electing Big Government RINOs despite all the rhetoric. Why? Because of myopic idiots who can't look beyond the next election... As long as voters keep on voting for the lesser of two evils, there will be evil candidates who win elections. As simple as that.

That's a good point.  I know a lot of people who lean left but would vote Paul against Obama in a heartbeat.  Republicans are holding Paul back...  Newt will fail... Paul will grab a good portion of the left.  He's the only candidate who can do that and still have the right vote for him.  Republicans fail to see this.

I am as opposed to Obama as you are, if not more. When you were jerking off to McCain, I was warning people that both McCain and Obama were going to be more of the same.

But now we're facing the same dilemma Republicans have faced time and time again... a deficit of leadership. The leaders of the GOP do not represent the views of the GOP grassroots. By voting for whoever the Republican Party chooses you are simply reinforcing that deficit.

Also, I suggest you brush up on your reading skills, since I clearly said that the Democrats are worse - yet you insist on saying that I think the Democrats are innocent.

All this leads to is a cycle of more of the same: more government, more regulations, more spending, more deficits, more debt, etc. By continually voting for these Big Government RINOs that the GOP puts out, people like dario73 are reinforcing that cycle... but, if these voters broke with the GOP and voted Third Party, then they would FORCE the GOP to start choosing candidates who support true small-r republican ideals.
