R.I.P. Dr. Bob Delmonteque - 11/21/11
« on: November 23, 2011, 03:03:23 PM »

Bob at 84 yaers old

Muscle & Fitness has learned that Bob Delmonteque (real name, Mike Diaks), a pioneer in the fitness movement, passed away in Los Angeles on November 21st, 2011 at a reported age of 85.

According to his website, http://bobdelmonteque.com, Delmonteque trained legendary Hollywood stars like John Wayne, Errol Flynn, Clark Gable and Marilyn Monroe, to whom he was a personal friend. A popular fitness magazine model during the 1950's, he also helped bring exercise to the masses in his role as part owner/operator of Executive Health Clubs International. In addition, he established a reputation as an accomplished fitness photographer and was the author of numerous books and articles.

More than merely an innovator in and ambassador for the world of health and fitness, Delmonteque practiced what he preached, maintaining a preternaturally strong, fit appearance well into his 80's.

I remember him from the 80s-era Muscle and Fitness mags. I figured he was a paid hanger-on?

One would think the Muscle and Fitness link would suffice...

If they are wrong, that's a hell of a big mistake or typo.  ::)

They are incorrect on diet, training and Steroids so why would they be the authority on death notices?

He's NOT 84 in that pic. It's at least 15 years old.

Anyway, yeah ... If he is dead, sad stuff. I interviewed the man back in my MMI days and found him to be polite and a genuine physical culture pioneer.

One would have to assume you are being facetious, no?

It's O.K (accepted?) for ALL of the bodybuilding publications to lie about training, supplements and juice, but when it comes to someone's death that is more of an "objective" thing wouldn't you say?

Many television and radio ads lie tremendously in their advertising... does that mean that everything else that is said on the station is a lie too?

RIP. I met Bob at the Arnold a few years ago. I was there with one of my personal training clients who was 63 and he asked Bob about hgh. Bob was very open about it. He told us he cycles his gh 3to4 months on and 1-2 months off for many years. This guys was very lean and muscular for his age.

do we have a cause of death? not to be a downer.. but 85 is not that old for someone who lived a very healthy and fit lifestyle for decades...

heck, my grandparents lived to 86 and 88 and 88 and 91 (mother and father's side) and they didn't exercise, ate normal but not healthy,, drank occassionally, and 1 of them smoked for decades....

genetics play a HUGE PART perhaps the HUGE MAJORITY PART in how long you live.. sometimes i can see why people think they will eat and drink and do whatever they want and enjoy their life... especially when they live past someone like this guy....

heck, steve reeves was only what 74 or so when he passed... same thing worked out and ate right and so on for decades.. and 74 is waaay too young to pass away...

i'm just saying.... seeing this guy's photos and ads in the mags i would have thought he would live to be past 100! all those ads showed as the epitome of health and strength, looking decades younger and of course having the physique of someone decades younger too... loved how the ads always showed him with some young nympho 50 years younger! lol!

did he die of cardiac arrest/heart attack, most likely because of the steroids. Think of being that jacked all these years that would destroy the heart like no other. His heart was working just as hard as someone obese carrying THAT much muscle weight

i wont accept a claim of dieing of "natural causes" what a load of shit
