We all think Sergio is a monster because we are comparing him to his era, same with Vic he was one of the biggest in his era at 4-6 weeks out conditioning, but Vic would get destroyed standing next to Markus Or Dennis James with the same conditioning.

Vic was big but he was just a big guy,lot of big guys get slaughtered by people 50lb lighter guys today, same as Vic getting slaughtered by Gaspari in their early days, he didn't compete because the pressure people put on him that he should win because they were basing this on his sheer size, but he knew exactly how bodybuilding worked, he wasn't stupid, he knew someone like Labrada was murdering monsters on stage, hence he was terrified of the stage so he wouldn't ruin his image

Pretty much sums it up right there. And title or no title, pro card or no pro card he was one of the biggest bbers ever.

Greg Kovacs was one of the biggest bodybuilders ever, too. Look how well he fared as a pro.

But, at least Kovacs won a legitimate pro qualifier and competed as a pro, unlike that farce of Richards. Again, how many Nigerian National Champions have been given pro cards before or since Richards?

okay good point and well taken...but as a lot of people on here have been saying, there are just some guys who stand out among other men....and Vic is one of them....he's a pro in the eyes of many fans...admittedly his title may be suspect, but this would not have happened if bodybuilding was more open about what it does and helped to educate the average fan as to how people qualify for pro cards and the procedures they have to go thru.....in almost all other sports the champions are crowned in a way which is open to scrutiny..

not to mention how many bb'ers were jobbed out of championships and pro cards they deserved because of politics and because the sport is controlled by a few assholes???....Richards chose not to go thru the bullshit....and made his own way in the world of bodybuilding which many bb'ers have not been able to do...

How come Kevin Levrone or Flex Wheeler or Shawn Ray never won an Olympia??? How did Dorian win his championships with a big gut and a torn bicep???..How about Arnold in 1980?

That was a long time ago and you sir know your sports history but the analogy still fails.
Bobby Jones competed in and won several major chamionships while Victor never even competed in any major contest.
The Jones comparison would only work if Victor won the OLympia and told the promoter to keep the prize $$ or gave it to charity.

there are plenty out there as you know, mostly from America Express, and you don't even have to travel to nigeria- although i am sure some nigerians can set you up with a nice AE card also.

Yet, Richards beats a bunch of twigs in a show that wasn't a pro qualifier beforehand and hasn't been one since then. And, he gets a pro card, a Weider contract, and a special invite to the Olympia.
