Darn, the gym business is tough enough without bad publicity like that. Not good for the public to know there is a bikie club nearby.

Well, there are a lot of bikie gangs in Melbourne now, some of Australias other states changed their legislation to make it harder for bikies to operate, so they moved to Melbourne. Doherty is a top operator, it would be hard for him to fail. Tony will ride this out I am sure.

Let us hope that once this shooting is forgotten people will remember his gym. Tony posted about how he has battled over the years to make things work. So I am sure he will be working hard to counter any bad publicity.

While it has been a difficult week it is business as usual. Despite the whole area being a crime scene, we did not close. People trained through the night as usual. I will not comment on the specifics of the shooting at this stage. There were TV crews everywhere through yesterday and we gave no comments. Today was back to normal and business will not be affected.

Dodging bullets while training is a daily occurrence for getbiggers.

Mars got shot in the leg once while doing squats (only the bar) and kept going and finished his set.

UPDATE: THE gunmen who blasted shots at Bandido strongman Toby Mitchell are suspected of having him under surveillance before the botched hit.

The pair pounced less than a minute after Mitchell walked from Dohertys Gymnasium in Brunswick, indicating they were watching their target.

Mitchell, who was known to be security conscious, did not have time to escape and was shot in the back and hip.

He is making a steady recovery in Royal Melbourne Hospital.

An underworld source said the gunmen would be regretting bungling Monday's intended murder.

"Whoever's done it will be spewing they didn't do it properly," he said.

A vital element of the Toby Mitchell police investigation is the gunmen's Ford Territory, later found burnt-out in Parkville.

They are believed to have torched the Territory to destroy any forensic evidence linking them to the vehicle.

An important line of inquiry will be trying to work out who stole the number plates fixed to the car.

Monday's peak-hour attack on Mitchell is the latest in a spate of incidents involving outlaw bikie members.

Among the violence was the shooting of a Comanchero biker who was wounded in the foot at the weekend.

Fink enforcer Mick MacPherson was shot this year, but refused to go to hospital after he was blasted in the stomach.

MacPherson leads Victoria's United Motorcycle Council, which will fight State Government plans to crack down on outlaw motorcycle clubs.

The organisation has remained silent on the Mitchell shooting

Definitely not as serious as this incident but Peter Grymkowski found it necessary to have a meeting with the local Venice "gang members" who had the potential to disturb his Gold's Gym business on Hampton Avenue but .... I have no idea what he said and how he said it .... but what he did say was enough to avoid any future problems.

Pete has a good way with words and the good friends who would back him up if backing up is ever needed.

And I have had the honor to meet some good friends of Pete's.

Having the Banditos virtually next door would be a worry. Wonder why the guy didn't go back to the gym for help? Seems odd he would head across the parking lot to the shops.

btw, Tony, I was at your gym a couple of years ago and thought it great to have that parking lot there until I noticed that you had to pay to park there. Can members use that parking lot after hours?

Shot bikie's kidney removed

THE bikie enforcer gunned down in a Brunswick street has lost a kidney.

Toby Mitchell is in a serious but stable condition in the Royal Melbourne Hospital, but sources say he has lost a kidney, while another said he is also having problems with his liver.

Surgeons performed keyhole surgery to remove the kidney.

Police are scanning footage of the sergeant-at-arms of the Bandidos being chased and shot in Barkly Square on Monday.

Mitchell, 37, is well known on the Melbourne crime scene and has many enemies, giving investigators plenty of motives to pursue.

He and his Bandido mates are refusing to co-operate with the police investigation.

Detectives have made it clear to the gang that it would be a big mistake to even consider retaliatory strikes.

Detectives have confirmed Mitchell was a suspect in the assault of a man who is an associate of Roberta Williams, the former wife of Carl Williams, who was bashed to death in Barwon Prison in April 2010.

The victim of the assault four weeks ago has been seen in the company of one of Carl Williams' most trusted gunmen, who has been freed after a lengthy jail sentence.
