Graphic new video footage of a public hanging in Iran this week highlights the brutalisation of both the condemned and those who watch executions, Amnesty International said today.

The video provided to Amnesty International was shot on 19 July, and shows the execution by hanging of three men in Azadi Square in the city of Kermanshah. The men had been convicted of rape.

The three men are shown standing on top of buses as guards drape ropes fixed to a bridge overhead around their necks, before a crowd of onlookers including children.

The crimes for which the men were condemned and the execution is announced over a loudspeaker, then the buses are driven away

Na, sex drive is instinct - Rape statistics are pretty steady everywhere - Yeah, I think if punishment was a deterrent, their would be no crimes.

Punishment IS a detterent to a certain extent, however, there are always those people that think they will be able to not get caught/smarter than the law, or are just insane.

Wouldnt say that, a man died in my home state after paying a "animal sex farm" to have a horse fuck him in the ass, ruptured his colon and he died.

Not at all bothered by this if the convictions are legitimate. Rape is a horrible crime, let them hang for all to see.

The last public hangings in the U.S. took place in the 1930's, which isn't that long ago, if you think about it. Most Western countries kept the hanging as a viable option till the 1960's. Washington and I think New Hampshire allow it if it's the criminal's choice.

Agreed, anyhow we waste too much money on this shit, a rope is a lot cheaper than some electrocution terminal.
