HFJ: Your 2012 GOP VP selection

Harold Ford Jr. Calls Newt Gingrich a 'Serious Thinker'

On this Sunday's Meet the Press in which the panel segment looked like a version of Morning Joe redux, their favorite ConservaDem Harold Ford Jr. (D-Wall Street) was asked about Newt Gingrich's rise in the polls and whether he can manage to stay there or not after we've seen so many other candidates rise and fall as the potential alternative to Mitt Romney. Ford goes on to describe Newt Gingrich as a "a serious thinker, he's a presenter in a very serious way" who has "been able to connect with conservative voters in ways that the others have not."  (source DU)

Ford is an african-american with decent experience, very well spoken, young and handsome, a baptist, keynote speaker in 2000 (he was almost obama before obama).

He sided with repubs late in his career and got bounced from congress for it.

He's on TV trying to be Liebermann 2012.   I bet he's on the short list for the VP job if newt wins the nomination.

He'd bring tennessee and be a better looking young smooth black man than obama.  He'd make obama look OLD on that stage!

Gingrich/Ford 2012.  Whattya think?

1) He's a younger, better looking obama who appeals directly to moderates.

2) he has a hot wife that the cameras would LOVE.

3) voters in the south will love him way more than obama.

Photographs below prove this.  He's gonna get that VP nod.

he's a very conservative dem who actually walked across the aisle to support the Iraqi war when bedwetting liberals wanted no war.

Aside from that, look at it from the marketing angle.  Newt chooses a bald Mitch Daniels and he gets a competent running mate and they look like 2 trolls up there.  Joe Biden has the false teeth and plugs, and obama has his sorta-youth.  Newt can add Ford to his ticket and he has some eye candy for that 2% of voters that vote based upon who has the hottest 1st lady.

Liebermann was a democrat and Mccain reallllly wanted to pick him.  He probably would have won the election, if he had!

O great - another wall street democrat.

it's gonna be him of a wall street republican.

i know I'm a CTer and all, and like to bet on the long shots... but Ford would really be a VISUAL to make obama look old, attract the black vote that cain could have grabbed from obama, etc.

I just see it as a little too coincidental that Ford is on Meet the PRess, 18 hours after Cain drops out of the race, singing Newt's praises, perhaps doing what he can to pull some black and/or liberal cain voters to Newt.  Whattya think?
