'American Psycho' Remake Being Prepped by Lionsgate

Patrick Bateman will be back to menace the populace once again.

Lionsgate is working on a remake of the 2000 film "American Psycho," which was based on the Bret Easton Ellis novel of the same name, an individual with knowledge of the project confirmed to TheWrap.

No word on who will inherit the role of unhinged yuppie Bateman from Christian Bale. Lionsgate has, however, tapped Noble Jones -- who served as a second unit director on 2010's "The Social Network -- to pen and direct the revamp.

The do-over will place Bateman in modern-day New York City -- so, lamentably, he won't be extolling the virtues of Huey Lewis and the News while he spreads carnage this time around. (Maybe he'll be a Nickelback fan instead? Seems about right.)

The original film was directed by Mary Harron and, in addition to Bale as the titular serial killer, starred Willem Dafoe, Reese Witherspoon, Chloe Sevigny and Jared Leto.

I can understand if it came out in the 60s or before. But it came out less than 12 years ago and isn't dated in any way. They'll just make it more PC.

Maybe they'll remake Avatar too, it was released 2 years ago after all.

Exactly,once they make a ton of cash on a big hit,they make part2,3,4,5,+6 which suck just wanting to cash in on the rep of the first film.

I usually avoid the sequels unless I hear that it was great or something.

Well, i enjoy old horror films from the 80's because my mom would rent me "Friday the 13th", Halloween films", Freddy films,..etc and let me watch them on the weekend's.

I was like 5 or 6 and loved that shit. And now they are all stupid ass remakes.

You cannot remake classics like, "Jaws", "Indiana Jones" films, Conan films,..etc.

Even the Last Indiana Jones film was just god awful. $:-\$ Fuckin Aliens in a Inidiana Jones film. $:-\$

The first one was good because it made me think what i would do to save someone, but the others i saw were just really, really, really bad. $:-\$

The only thing i want with "Jaws" is just put it on Blu-Ray and i will pay any price for "Jaws" on Blu-Ray.

I am not sure what Speilberg has against Blu-Ray.
