This guy is a truly an awesome human being. The heart of a lion inside the cage and the heart of a saint on the outside. It would be great if more pro atheletes would give back like this. Imagine if all the nba and nfl athletes contributed this much they could solve a lot of problems and rebuild communities.

brazilians arent greedy fucks like americans Marco Ruas did the same thing before mma was big Pedro rizzo was a poor kid and marco trained him for free. Pedros fights used to be the shit back in the day talk about take a beating and kick your ass that was the good old days of ufc. This is common over there. Most these brazilian are very serious christians to serious serious. They arent really racist in central america like here the black and latins live in harmony. Their the salt of the Earth which is why Rio has almost no crime and it is safe for anybody to walk through the favela's at any time of night without fear of attack.

Try doing that shit in downtown Detroit and see what happens.

The Brazillians are easy to root for. Most of them have gracious personalities and they seem very down to earth. I was sad to see Big Nog get his arm broken.

Poor kids make the best fighters and Wanderlei knows that ,you can't charge a fee to kids that don't even have money to eat ,that's one of the reason why boxing is dying in America ,it's hard to pay bills when you don't charge for your services, our gym is free it's still open but I don't know for how long.

truth, when i went to brazil i was shocked at how everyone, no matter what skin color, were just having fun...laughing...convers ing and it seemed normal
you may even see a dark skin brazilian( who you can tell doesnt have much money) having a convo with another fellow ( maybe lighter) who seems to have his shit together- and there was no feeling of..ohh im lighter and have more money so i am better than you

The majority of black athletes come off as greedy and ingorant. They would rather spend money on stupid shit like diamonds and 30 inch rims.

sad truth....the majority ( wont say all) are extremely selfish. They think if i donate some money for charity here and there, will be good enough

Theres a few good guys that do a lot of good not enough. Imagine if they all contributed even a small percent of what they make to help rebuild broken down communities, schools, churches, etc.

Agreed, i remember when i was a ratty lil fucker..there were YMCA, and other centers like that so kids can be active....learn martial arts, draw, read, computers...now kids have nothing but drugs and sex, and then you wonder why they are all fucked up.

Don't know if he mentioned it in the video but im pretty sure when wandy first started trainig he didn't have any money at all. And the trainer let him train for free and he slept in the back room(?) of the gym. And his dream was always to give other kids the same opportunity he got.

With that said I think due to TUF we're going to see a Lot of new talent coming from brazil that never had a chance before.

you know who i blame for the lack of social conscience in sports...MICHAEL JEFFREY JORDAN

now i am a lifelong fan of his game and still a bulls fan to this day. I would consider MJ the first mega endorsement athlete and he made it his business to not get too socially involved. yes he donated to charity etc but in terms of actual hands on work within the community, Jordan wanted no parts. And i think as young men grew up in athletics they saw how he would go about the business of marketing his "brand' and you saw they was never any connection with MJ and social issues.

tie in the monster that is the "hip-hop generation" ( this is coming from a kid who grew up on hip-hop) the combo has created ..well

Im glad wandy opened this gym also. Because now the insane ammount of emotional/motivational videos he has released that was almost out of hand (shitty thing to complain about I know. But too much or anything is never good words has more meaning if they're aren't spoken Too much) But now it dosn't bother me at all after this awesome geasture.
