Who here actually likes pro bodybuilding?

I have not liked or had interest in bodybuilding since Lee Haney days.  I didn't know who Ron Coleman was until I started posting here a long time ago.  I just stumbled on this board looking for diet/training advice.  I read a few posts and stayed for the entertainment.  Still don't like bodybuilding and only know enough to understand what people are talking about.

I really liked it in the 90s when all of the info I got about it was the filtered, clean image of the scene that the mags (mostly FLEX) showed you. Once I began lurking here in 2002/2003 and then started posting, I've liked it less and less, after seeing all the sordid stuff that goes on behind the scenes. Never wanted to look like a pro or compete or take roids, but some of the top pros inspired me to lift hard and look good. Now there's maybe 1 or 2 guys that I respect, most of the rest are just bloated meat bags who rely on drugs to make up for their lack of hard work.

Nowadays I like watching the AC and the Mr Olympia, that's about it. And I like Phil Heath. Getbig brings out the truth, but also makes you have a lot of contempt for bodybuilding and even humanity in general, lol.

Have you heard of Alexander Pope's quote, "The proper study of mankind is man"? You get to see/study people's thoughts, motivations and behavior here better in some ways than you can IRL, where you are mostly with just one or two people at a time and are distracted by their looks, body language etc. You want to learn how people think and operate, just spend some time here and see it in it's raw form

Although the physiques of the 90's are way better, there has been 4 Mr O's in the last 7 years, so it's only thing that keeps my interest, imagine someone locking down the sandow for 6-8 years with all these pluffy bodybuilder with chipmucnk faces chasing him, I wouldn't even bother with sport then

Heath winning the olympia was a step in the right direction but if all top 20 pros died tomoro I'd still come here for the info on general stuff

I loved it from when I was a teen (late 70's) up untill a few years back when the synthol, bloated guts, insulin era destroyed bodybuilding.

sometimes I look at it before I train and imagine it is the word of god telling me to lift some heavy ass weights

I used to like pro bodybuilding a couple of years ago, back then I though it was more about hard work rather than drug use. I wanted to look like a pro from the 70's lol and I though competing was cool. Then I started seeing the true, and I got dissapointed although I never really liked modern bodybuilding, just a few guys I think they were great. I liked more the 70s-80s look. I love to train and that's it. I come here for the lulz.

I like playing sports but dont like watching them. I can stomach NFL becouse of getting together with the boys and having a few beers.
