Economist Robert Murphy challenged Krugman to a debate and members of the Mises Institute have put a lot of money on the line. If Krugman accepts, then the NYC Food Bank will get $71,255 to feed the hungry. Not bad. http://www.thepoint.com/campaigns/campaign-0-1240

He doesn't have to. Debate is not the be all end all. If Schiff feels he is so correct perhaps he should try to get a column himself and publish as to why he is correct.

It seems to me Schiff is a little hurt that despite Krugman's perceived insanity he still has a wider audience than Schiff does. It's a case of the little dog yapping at the big dog.

Not at all. The size of the audience doesn't make one right and one wrong. But my assertion is if Schiff is correct then it should be rather easy to get a larger audience shouldn't it?

Besides, Krugman has everything to lose and nothing to gain. Schiff is a little known adviser who says he saw the crash coming yet still lost millions of his clients money. What would Krugman gain from the debate? Schiff would gain a potentially larger audience but Krugman would get what exactly? I imagine not much.
