Ok...after a long dispute with Sprint, I am getting my phone exchanged without penalty....which would you go with:

2) HTC Evo

Had Samsung Galaxy Epic.....and it was a fucking nightmare.  I went through 4 different phones because they couldnt figure out what was happening to it.

- Occasional problems with sending/receiving picture mail
- Screen Keyboard not functioning
- Voicemail not downloading
- Random re-boots
- Microphone not working after latest update. Would work in speaker mode though.

Has it been a hassle not having the slide out keyboard on the Galaxy II?  My epic had one...

The SII has been giving me bullshit lately. There's a bug in the firmware that gives off all kinds of symptoms, one of them being that it thinks that its connected to the usb-port all the time. When you do connect it, it doesn't react. So basically, I'm unable to update the firmware of my phone. Bluetooth won't work either. A moment-22 kinda deal. Also since the bug made itself known the battery life is a third of what it used to be.

After a little googling it turns out that the bug is actually somewhat common and unfixable.

Other than that it's a GREAT phone but this bug is really pissing me off.

iPhone 4, IMO.

The iPhone is the best phone out there, 2nd to none.  The 4S has battery issues and the talking feature isn't really that special.  Plus, the iPhone 4 price has dropped significantly since the 4S came out.

Have you tried this: http://blog.vacs.fr/index.php?post/2010/12/24/How-to-repair-the-USB-not-detected-problem-on-Android-Samsung-phones

Bluetooth issues is another problem I have had with my Epic.  It should automatically pair it when in the area.....that doesn't happen.  I can hit 'detect' and have the damn headset in my ear and it wont find it.  I have to turn Bluetooth off on phone, then turn headset off, then turn bluetooth on, then power on the headset.

I melted down and destroyed a bluetooth headset one time because of this....$50 down the tubes...

Meh this phone crap is far too annoying it's just a fashion accessory for men, and the pussification of the average man continues.

I'll probably get the galaxy 2 myself and root it, them run cyanogen custom ROM on it.

Whats the % of bricking the phone?  Void warranty?

IPhone is numero Uno.

Windows Mobile Platform is a great alternative though.

Iphone 4s and the Samsung Galaxy are both great, and you'll probably be happy with both.

If you want a slightly more polished experience, want most stuff to work all the time,  and don't care too much about customization, get the iPhone.  If you want total control, but are willing to accept the occasional bugs and glitches that go along with an open sourced platform like Android, get the Galaxy.

Or dump sprint, get on Verizon, and decide between the iPhone and the Nexus.  Just be willing to deal with battery issues that a 4.6 inch 4G phone will have until they make a better battery.

Yeah batteries are the main problem with these phones today , dual core processors and 1GB or ram is gonna sap the life out of a battery , don't expect to make it through the day on the phone when it's new never mind when it's a year old  :-X

Although the new Razr has a probably the longest lasting battery of the new smart phones
